New vegetable community garden is sprouting in Grove
Community Garden of Coconut Grove: the Roots of the Grove Garden is Saturday, March 7 at noon.
The event will be a "Composting Party," where they will hold workshops about composting, composting with worms, planting native and Caribbean fruiting trees organically, building raised planter beds, etc. The main goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of growing your own vegetables in a community setting as well as in your own backyard.
The Roots of the Grove Garden is a vegetable community garden located at 3196 Plaza Street at Day Avenue and is being organized by Urban Empowerment Corporation and the Miami chapter of Architecture for Humanity. The land has been donated by St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Awesome. I will be there. I have a cinnamon tree i dont have room for. Maybe they would like it. It needs to be planted soon.
Glad to see this happening closer to home. South Beach has done this for some time, it's worth visiting (I think it's on 3rd and Washington). With all the vacant lots around the city, this is a great way of bringing the community together with great benefits.
Hooray!
