It should be a discrimination protest against fat heads

fatass
I hate when people make something out of nothing. I have had my quarrels with the Shaq 24 Hour Fitness gym, but this is downright stupid.

There is picketing at the Shaq 24 Hour Fitness gym today, which seems to work, because it kept me from working out, and I had planned to.

This fat ass DJ from one of the local Latin radio stations, signed up with a friend. He paid the friend's membership and he had planned to use the friend as his trainer. But it turns out (and most gyms do this for insurance reasons) that the gym will only allow their own trainers to train people. Not unlicensed friends.

Well now the DJ has turned it into a discrimination thing against fat people. I am guessing that if there were no Latin's working at the gym, it would have been a discrimination thing against Latins. If the DJ was black, it would be a black thing.

It is basically that the cheap ass wants a free trainer, so he is pissed that it won't be that way now. So rather than ask for a refund, he does this. No class.

Perhaps it should just be a discrimination thing against morons. Because that is what this DJ is.

I guess he just wants his 15 minutes of fame, even if it makes him look like a total loser.

It is loud, rude and is chasing tourists away. The DJ should be sued by all Grove merchants for all business lost today, by his obnoxious behavior.

Think of it as the glass being half full:
1. The Yacht Harbour parking lot is making money off the DJ. He's making radio station employees show up to "protest," and they're parking there, since it is right next door. We told one of them to to be sure and get reimbursed for being made to go out there to look ridiculous in order to boost the DJs ratings).

2. There's about a dozen of them, and eventually they'll get hungry or thirsty; plus more are arriving as others leave.

3. As the saying goes, all press is good press. This guy is part of one of those sophomoric-but-high-ratings talk radio shows where they do prank calls, etc. and this is a ratings gimmick for them, so they are in fact inciting their listeners come to the Grove and check them out. Once here, they will no doubt make a day of it, have lunch or dinner, take in the antiques show, maybe buy something.

Anyway at Shaq it's biz as usual I went for my work out and so did a lot of othre people. it was pretty packed.

First, accep is not a misspell, it's done this way to center the words. The Grape has hit the nail on the head stating this guy is looking for his 15 seconds of fame.
But, imagine/think inside the gym, the DJ, his friend/trainer----how could anyone have known, i.e., two people standing next to each other, how could anyone state one is doing exercise and the other is a trainer without license---how, how, how could anyone say such a thing. Insurance, personnel in the gym, who, what, when? The DJ has created his 15 seconds of fame!
The Grape couldn't exercise, but the Grove got some press.

In this city first of all there is discrimination against non Spanish speakers in the jobs market, towards customers and every business clientele imaginable. First fix the discrimination against English speakers then try to fix the self-righteous DJ fatso problem.

There is plenty of room in that sign for the extra "T" in accept. No way is that correct.

It annoys me when people can't spell. Is that discrimination or merely having discriminating sensibilities.

I once read 17 dictionaries, the forwards, in about three months and I saw that they collectively stated that laungage was like a live human being in that words come and go depending on how people/cultures/civilizations chose to use words. Anyone who sees this wordage understands the message----, therefore it is correct to project their concpet, frankly we in the Grove need to create community--period!.

I don't really think the "DJ" needs anymore fame he is Enrique Santos...he ran for Miami Mayor last election and almost won. I listen to his show it is without doubt a very good program. You should go to naafa.org and read their press release. I saw on the news last night that they are also working to change the laws in Tallahassee to end discrimination against fat people. It's about time someone stood up for us. Shame on the Grapevine for hating one of it's own!!

One day, if we get a national health system do thin people have to pay the same taxes as fat ones, do non smokers get to pay the same taxes as smokers. How about polite people, do they have to pay for rude, mentally challenged DJs? Is a national health plan going to discriminate along these lines or just make arithmetic calculation?

Grapevine for hating one of it's own? What does that mean?

The guy is not fat, I will show photos of him tomorrow.

There is no discrimination issue here. He wants to use his own trainer, the gym does not want that.

He likes attention. He is using overweight people to get it.

i cornered this guy yesterday and told him, in no uncertain terms, that if he had been alive in the sixties, and actually seen 'discrimination', as in 'back of the bus', he might not be so quick to use the word as pertains to his situation.

There is discrimination against English speakers in Miami. When people learn to speak the language of this country, may we can be more accommodating to lardasses. Plus, being fat doesn't give you any extra rights to anything. If you go to the movies and can't fit in the seat, that's your problem, not the theaters. If you can't fit in the seat of an airplane, it doesn't give you the right to raise the armrest and inconvenience the person next to you with your lard overflowing into their seat. Society should not have to pay higher taxes or healthcare costs because you can't control yourself around a fast food joint either. If these guys are there tomorrow, I'm gonna drive by and throw a milkshake in their face.

I think Grape's question about why the gym just wont apologize is the answer. It's not just a marketing gimmick for the DJ/Station but also for the gym. As Liliana notes above, the gimmick is benefiting everybody, so there you have it.

Would be great tho if the pr people were creative enough to come up with street mktg tactics that didn't use negative s*&t like lawsuits and discrimination but Miami does love litigation.
