Those old clunkers are part of the scenery

The gas lights are out, but antique cars are in, go figure.

Look for antique cars to be parked around the Grove in the coming months.

The Merchants Group is arranging to have cars parked at various areas of the Grove, as a featured attraction, and hopefully people walking around will enjoy them and they'll be encourage to walk everywhere in the Central Grove area to enjoy the cars. It's sort of an art on the streets, thing, too.

They are trying to have the first set of cars on the streets this weekend during the Arts Festival. I actually like the idea and feel it will add some "color" to the area on a regular basis -- sort of photo opps as you walk around the Grove.

Cool idea, but I guess this is a dirty trick by Miami Parking Authority to fund a project that will effectively show the finger to Grove residents by once more reducing parking space while beautifying the area.

The Merchant Group came up with the idea and they are going to pay for parking.

Does this make parking that much harder to find in the Grove? Yes, it does.

Yeah, less parking... The biggest complaint from people who visit the grove will be addressed - by spitting in their faces. Good move Merchant group!!!

Again people want more exciting things in the Grove and then complain when they get them. You are not going to find parking on the street anyway this weekend anyway - so chill. Put on your comfortable shoes and hoof it.

Anon 6:03 - first, I don't think I or anyone else was referring to parking this weekend, but rather, in general. Second, how the hell are old cars exciting? This is a pretty lame idea, with a high cost. I'm not a naysayer, and have supported multiple attempts to effectively draw and keep visitors in the grove, but this will not do anything.

Hey, speaking of parking, does anyone know why the bus lane on mcfarlane is the longest bus lane in the city of Miami, stretching well over 200 feet? doesn't that seem odd to anyone else? Also, why isn't the post office lot ever used for anything? it's huge, repaved and just sits there.

The bus lane on McFarlane is acutally a drop off point for tourist buses and limo services.

I agree. Lame Idea, less parking.
just like those old car's taking up space in front of the Hotels on Ocean Drive. I love old car's, but this idea seems silly to me.

How old does my car have to be to qualify for free parking? I drive a '91.

Geez- you negative people kill me! All residents I'm sure who could care less about bringing more business to the grove. Everyone complaining- come up with a better idea to draw people in and maybe us merchants struggling to get by can talk about that at the next meeting.

Geez, yep, I have some ideas, more parking, no parking meter fees in the evenings and off peak hours to draw more crowds.

Anon 9:01 - I live in the grove, invest in the grove and depend on businesses succeeding in the grove. So watch your step, when you speak without knowledge, you look a fool. I'm pro business in the grove and continue to make effort to support them. Here's my 3 step plan to double grove revenue - 5am is back; parking is free; code enforcement can only do a check every other month, and it must be during business hours.

That guy for mayor!!!
