Sensory overload

fest2
There is so much to do in the Grove this weekend. It's basically all art-related. Just the way we like it.

Someone likened it to Art Basil, where there is the one main show and many offshoots. The offshoots in the Grove seem to be more interesting than the major event this year, although this butt sculpture has been the subject of many photos. No buyer yet, but many photos.

Art has been in and around all the stores and galleries. Some have concentrated on Mail Art, others have had artists outside on the streets in front of their stores. The Antique Market is winding around both sides of Mayfair and the crowds are enjoying music on the streets, too.

Friends and neighbors are enjoying mingling on the streets with all of our visitors. I have heard more than once -- practically every other minute -- that there is an energy in the Grove. A good vibe. Something that has been missing for a long time.

There is something for the senses at each turn.

Outside art has been in for over 500 years throughout the world and is a great attention getter. There several artist on Gifford Lane namely the result of the Gifford Lane Art Stroll that takes place once a year. This one guy has art all about Oak street and up and down Gifford Lane. He was serving lobster, coffee and some kind of punch to unsuspecting passersby and no doubt created a lot of goodwill for Coconut Grove as a tourist spot. This kind of activity should be a mainstay of the Grove experience, yet only takes place three days annually. Why can't the powers that be figure this out?
