Hare Krishna Festival held over the weekend
We went to the Hare Krishna Festival this weekend, held at their temple and grounds at Virginia and Day. It was pretty nice.
There was a lot of healthy food and lots of music, dance and a fashion show. We enjoyed it all.
I asked about Govinda's, their restaurant. I know it is usally open Sunday afternoons. I was told by Mateo (above), that it was closed by Code Enforcement. They were told they could not run a restaurant in a residential area.
When will the madness end?

I live in the townhouses next door to the temple and could hear the entire festival....in my bedroom. It was pretty annoying but since they're usually great (and quiet) neighbors, I sucked it up.
The chick on the right in the third pic has me pondering a conversion. That glimpse of a belly chain is especially maddening.
As to code enforcement, I don't see why preventing operation of a restaurant in a residential neighborhood is "madness." Where would you draw the line?
I just love indian food, even more when it is affordable.
We live about 3 blocks from their church, the way the crow flies, and could hear their music------another reason to be thankful for living in the Grove.
I love the Krishnas. They always have a smile for you when you see them in the street, and having lived across the street from them for eleven years, first on Virginia and then on Day, I can say from experience they are very good neighbors. Don't like their food, though. Since their religion doesn't allow them to use onions or many spices, I find it really bland. Like indian food but flavorless.
Thank god code enforcement closed the restaurant. I really wouldn't want a restaurant in a residential area. Can you imagine a restaurant in the middle of a residential block? Get real Grape.
Get real? That restaurant has been there for 20 years and hasn't bothered anyone. You probably didn't even know it existed. YOU GET REAL!!!!!!!!!
