This event will feature a rare US appearance by multi-platinum recording artist Santa Esmeralda and other performers. South Florida legendary DJ from The Limelight turned producer Lewis Martinee, who wrote and produced for the girl group Expose, will be the special guest DJ.
Proceeds will benefit the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), the charity formed by famed Nile Rodgers, a non profit organization which raises awareness about child education and cultural/world unity.
Remember Faces In The Grove, Rum Bottoms, Widows McCoy, Regines, Cats, Stringfellows and a host of other legendary dance spots? "Coconut Grove and it's disco history was the obvious choice to host this event." Says Rigo Garcia, one of the event promoters, who runs a website www.305Disco.com that concentrates on South Florida's Disco/Dance history.
Leroy Gomez of Santa Esmeralda said, "I have only performed in Miami but one time in 2007 for a private party, while in Miami I had the opportunity to visit Coconut Grove, it's shops and outdoor cafe's along with the over all beauty of Coconut Grove reminded me a lot of France, where I live, I found it to be a pleasant and diverse community with so much to offer, I am very excited about performing there and to meeting new friends while there."
