Get ready for a total movie, dining and bowling experience
In addition, Muvico has partnered to develop a unique first of its kind “Lucky 7 Supper Club," which will feature a 6-piece house band. The club will also feature “Rockstar Karaoke” on Thursday nights where customers can belt out their favorite tune while accompanied by a live band. Lucky 7 will have seven lanes of luxury bowling, 120 dining seats, plush “bachelorette booths”, comfortable bars, in-house DJ’s and a prominent dance floor. They plan to offer a full-service kitchen showcasing “supper club” favorites like: table side Caesar salad, Steak Diane, Prime Rib, Chicken au Jus, Blackened Shrimp Scampi and Bananas Foster.
It is anticipated that construction will commence later this spring with an opening slated for early 2010.
Other services will include valet parking, on-line ticketing, reserved seating and lane reservations and a bowling concierge. An expanded concession menu will feature traditional movie-going fare along with gourmet appetizers and Napa-Style pizzas from the Lucky 7 Supper Club menu. The wall-to-wall screens will be presented in Sony 4K super definition digital projection allowing for the broadcasting of concerts and sporting events in selected auditoriums as well as 3D cinema presentations.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Lucky 7 Supper Club, to bring the finest entertainment experience available to Coconut Grove and the greater Miami area,” noted Muvico Theaters CEO and President Michael Whalen.
“The world of theater exhibition is changing rapidly due to changes in technology and other forms of competing entertainment. It is not good enough to offer just movies, popcorn, and soda to our guests. It is our vision to be the leaders in the entertainment space where movies are part of an overall entertainment experience that brings audiences of all ages to our complex. "

Sounds awful. Luxury bowling? Please.
Will the Prime Rib make up for the fact that most movies still suck?
I'm glad this "theater exhibition experience" targets the lowest common denominator of adolescents and adult-adolescents with disposable income.
Shame the Grove doesn't have an independent film house that could attract people from all over the area because of the quality of the theater's showings rather than the quantity of stuff they can shove in your face.
i agree. personally i dont care about a luxury movie theater, i go the movies to see a movie. if i wanted to go bowling or get prime rib, i would go to those specific places. its a shame we will now have to drive out to sunset plaza to see a movie on a saturday night.
Sunset is next and this is the wave of the future, so maybe Blockbuster is what you cheap asses need.
Nice to see the curmudgeons have already voiced their crappy attitude opinions... Yeah, who needs a movie theater? Lets put up another art studio! Art everywhere that no one buys! Yay!!!
Lucky Strike on Miami Beach makes a killing. Splitsville in South Miami aint doing bad either. Both are "upscale bowling lanes". Its funny that a lot of people bitch about how crappy the current theater at Cocowalk is yet continue to bitch when a better alternative is presented.
Coconut Grove: you can't win.
The galleries sell a lot of art in the Grove, thank you. We would not be here if we didn't have a clientele.
this is freakin awesome! that theater now is a POS. but how they are going to do all this in 6-8 months baffles me. That theater makes a lot of money because there are very few theaters in miami when you think about it. none near downtown/brickell other than the grove. (there is a crappy one by the airport on lejeune but that doesn't count).
this would be great, maybe they can use some of the empty space left by coyote ugly.
this seems like a good thing to me, though the short term effects will be very hard on the retailers.
What coconut grove residents need to understand is that we need things like this to bring people back to the Grove. Art or not art, nobody is here. We need big attractions and a nightlife. If not, you might as well move your galleries to the design district.
Can't wait. sound like a lot of fun!
I like it. A company with a successful model and strong track record is moving into the grove to spend millions of dollars on putting together a top of the line venue... and people bitch!
This will be a good thing. No one says you have to bowl if you're not into bowling. Nobody says you have to eat their prime rib. But some people will come to the grove because of just that... then they will stop at or at least see the other shops, restaurants and galleries.
Todays AMC sucks...way outdated.
However, this version sounds like an expensive night out. Ask Niki Grove & Christibelle's how expensive venues workout in the Grove.
We need an upgrade but price this too far out there and your asking for trouble. All we need is a nice cinema. Focus on their niche which is movies. There are plenty of other places to eat and drink around the grove why compete with them?
So how much is a movie going to cost now, 20? I am surprised this is happening now with how bad the economy is//I'll be shocked if it is completed on time.
I think it's priceless how negative people here can be without even knowing the facts.
hello people, LUXURY comes with a price, not 7 bucks anymore, helllooooooooo
We should have a Parade for Muvico and Lucky 7 Supper Club Team. The more money, the more visitors, raise the value of your homes & Condos. Stop complaining !!! It is a Win Win Deal. Would You rather have empty store fronts with homeless sitting on our benches? Time for a Change.
Muvico states in informationals their ticket price will double current pricing; children & teens only before 6 P.M. & bowling only till 9:00 P.M. Their main theme is an overall experience in luxurious sorroundings and their theaters are drawing larger number of patrons that will most likely not have any great ripple affect throughout the Grove-------unless the Grove and powers that be give them cause/reason to go out and about the Grove to seek out still more experience/entertainment to round out their total experience in the Grove----art folks, diverse art and performance artist, the whole nine yards, hold nothing back and allow the artist and this luxurious experience to create a unique experience throughtout the Grove, and nightclubs.
it's nice to see someone (or company) with a real vision...
it looks like the movies may once again be enjoyable and sanitary.
There really are some negative people chiming in on this, but my favorite part of their argument is their threat to go to Sunset "Plaza" (What, is the word "place" not good enough, you need to italianize it?), where they'll find, well, the exact same thing. Luxury bowling, big movie theatre, and the same crap movies they will eventually have back in the Grove with Muvico.
This movie theater sounds like it's going to be a big attraction, with plenty to do, which frankly, is surprising. It also sounds really expensive to get into, which I'm not a big fan of, but that's the price of such luxury. It's likely going to be a great place and complaining just shows reactionary tendencies, not any real thought on the issue.
As Grape suggests in a later post, this is the kind of "economic stimulus" that will have true, long-term effects.
Viva capitalism!
As one of many employees of AMC Cocowalk when they first opened way back in 1990, I was thrilled to have such a wonderful movie theatre to enjoy as well as a paycheck. I haven't been to Cocowalk in quite some time so I guess it's a mess now. But in it's hayday mamy stars went to visit. I personally met Madonna, Sly Stallone, Gloria Estefan, Antonio Banderas, Cher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Celia Cruz and the list goes on. So having this movie theatre will attract many of today's stars and bring the Grove back to it's hayday. It can happen if you only believe.
As for me I'll miss AMC only because I have many great memories there.
If you are going to whine and complain, at least sign YOUR NAME.
Thanks for spreading the word about Muvico's plans regarding their entrance into Coconut Grove. Muvico is very enthusiatic to be a part of our community and so are we...
The upgraded theatre sounds great and anything would beat the empty storefronts, but keep it reasonable in price.
And hold the owners of Cocowalk responsible for keeping the place CLEAN!
Two weekends ago the parking deck stunk to high heaven of sewage and the parking management was still allowing cars in and charging for parking. We actually had to drive through some questionable "water" to leave. When we questioned the parking attendants - we got the "no speakee the english" response.
Keep things real and pleaseant and people will come back. The Grove used to be an awesome place to hangout - get back to that scene!!
