Bring "the girls" back, we miss them
I heard it was too expensive, that they didn't want to be known as a gay bar and that there were complaints (I don't believe that last one), but it's a shame that some of the funky that makes the Grove the Grove is now gone. I think this was a big mistake. So many people in town told me they went and enjoyed it or that they planned to go and couldn't wait.
I was told that Elaine Lancaster and Adora, the performers, had people coming to the Grove from South Beach, just to see their shows. Nothing wrong with that -- filling a club on a Friday night. I question the managment's decision on this one.
So many people asked me to take them or asked me exactly where it was. One local restaurant owner stopped his car while driving by one day to tell me he and his wife went and had a ball. Just yesterday, my friend Theresa asked about, it so we walked over and that's when I found out about the change.
Another club owner said he would consider having "the girls" perform at his place. I think that's a smart move. It's very sophisticated and yet bawdy and something unique that draws people who want to have fun and enjoy something different.

Another BLT (business limiting move). Lot's of them out there this week. Why would they do that? I thought Elaine and friends classed up the joint, and it was fun that it was on particular nights and not all the time, which added diversity and following. Everyone was asking about it, and I thought our gay friends would actually be interested in coming here for more that just brunch...too bad, now it's just another Irish pub.
Hope they reconsider, or the girls find a new home. We could use some good piano bar here too! Cole Porter and the like. If anyone has a piano in their business, I know a great couple who performs in South Beach that will do it justice!
Grape,
I was the one who talked to you about moving the show over to my venue. I am contacting them this week to see what I can do. I'll keep you in the loop.
Bring the DRAG back. Loved it! You must think outside of the box here in the Grove.
Get ready for something that's going to be called Tarzan & Jane vs. Slave Traders. We need a venue, say like what the Mayfair Hotel can provide, i.e., food, bar and dance space, a place that could accommodate about 500 people dancing with another 750 to 1,000, milling around, looking on. I did contact the Mayfair Hotel, but I believe the price would be prohibited. Is there such a location in the Grove to handle this type of crowd? The entire plan is to attract a crowd to use our eateries & nightclub and then end up a some central location for fun and dance. A $500.00 to $1,000.00 prize will be rewarded for best costume and best dancer to both two females and two males. If the first one proves profitable for the entire Grove, or even one business it would be repeated once every month. Please offer up some comments.
Awww! Sad news--we just found out about the drag shows this week, and were heading there this Friday. Please keep us updated on the change of venue, hopefully for this Friday night!

I wasn't even aware that there was a drag show in the Grove. I would have definitely checked that out. Let us loyal readers know when they're appearing at a new venue.
I agree Grape I also liked the shows, but I do not agree with anon at 10:01, you will turn off people by the name of your venue, I hope you are not serious..
Anon 2:30 PM. No, No, No! We need this kind of thing, venue, sex, period. Sex and alcohol. You think that guys who dress as girls is not sexual? In fact, you could be right. I'm a shy person who might just like to hide behind such a thing except I can't. They can make jokes and go home without people knowing where they live to avoid attacks. I desire such, but they do it. I suspect their employer simply could not pay their desired rate of pay; an unforunate for the Grove. Lets find some transvestites who are cheaper.
how about drag princesses?
Cheap drag queens aren't as fun to watch. You gotta pay the big bucks to get the more talented, more "convincing" ones.
Wow I had no idea there were drag queens in the grove either. I would have loved to have seen their show. I know that Adora is a top notch performer and hope that they can find another venue in the grove. Please keep us informed Grape!
How much would two drag queens cost for Friday and Saturday night in the Grove?
How much can I make if I wear my wife's dress?
I did not know of such a show, what a shame I would have loved to go. Are the "girls" anywhere close by that I can see them perform? BTW what's wrong with a drag show?
The "girls" will be back... I promise.
XOXO
