Grove traffic issues discussed at Village Council meeting

tigertail
Tigertail Avenue's traffic issues were discussed at Thursday's Village Council meeting.

A traffic signal is being considered for Tigertail and 22nd Avenue. Also, possibly a roundabout.

The traffic calming device at Crystal Court and Tigertail (called a
chicane) was brought up by council member, Gary Hecht. He, as well as most of the neighbors in the area, hate that thing. They don't think it was needed and they feel that all it does is have traffic swerve as if they are on a race course and that it doesn't slow people down.

There used to be a stop sign there (which now faces Crystal Court), but neighbors feel that the stop sign facing drivers on Tigertail would be best. Even though there is "no traffic" on Crystal Court and people would be made to stop for "no traffic." But it would have cars stop only for the purpose of slowing them down.

The light at Ingraham and Douglas was also discussed at Thursday's meeting. The timing is off which seems to back up traffic at rush hour times. For some reason, it cannot be made right at this point in time. DOT is working on it.

How about re-paving the entire Mine Field with holes, gravel, uneven stretches, Tiger tail is true adventure now, from beginning to end. How about painting it nicely (not just that spot on the picture); how about a decent bike path (not just for double suspension Mountain Bikes, dare-devils hopefully with great health insurances), and decent sidewalks wouldn't hurt either for those who prefer to walk, skate or run.

Guess that's not where the abundant Grove Tax money goes, is it Mr Sarnoff?

The new Ingram and Douglas lights are a big problem, not only the time needs major adjustment also when driving from Ingram north to Douglas there are two sets of traffic light visible on one direction, only the lights on the right hand side are the proper light which should be paid attention to when driving north, the lights you will notice on the left belong to the traffic coming in from East, this light needs to be set back further to the right or turned so that it does not get people killed. People are running the light, at first view you may think they are running it on purpose but when you drive the path you will see how DOT has installed the lights. It would have helped if the engineers and contractors used their brains first time around. This danger should have been pointed out and fixed by the city inspectors.

I'm still wondering why they only improved, asphalted and painted that small area in the picture on Tiger tail. Does anyone "important" (with special influence at City Hall with the City of Miami/ Public Works) live right around that spot by any chance? Why didn't they do anything at all on more dangerous areas and intersections in Tiger Tail, which is a real mess all the way through?

Or for that matter, why don't they upgrade, or fix other messed-up spots elsewhere, as in Aviation, S.Bayshore, Douglas, main St., Red Lights etc..

I guess that little particular spot was mysteriosly the top priority for our so-called "representatives" at City Hall.

If more people would attend the council meetings, you would get more info. The projects are actually controlled by the county. They sent two informative and nice reps to the meetings to discuss the village councils concerns and were very informative. The "chitake" was placed there because is was the only intersection in which it would fit.

That is with out a doubt one of the most dangerous things Ive seen in a long time, not to mention how many beautiful (living) trees they had to cut down in order to widen the road. I was there, I saw them do it.

That intersection on Tigertail and Crystal Court is a total waste of taxpayer money. I got ticketed there for "running" a stop sign and now there isnt even a sign there. Dumbest spot for any sort of calming device. I drive that road every day and everyone who also drives there knows there are ALWAYS cops with speed guns ready to pounce. Plus, its all traffic anyways since the school is right there and the stop signs at 22nd are a huge clusterbomb. A traffic circle at 22nd would be a total disaster. The intersection is not large enough for a circle that would improve flow and people in Miami are so effing dumb when it comes to those things that it would be a mess anyways.

To Anonymous 10:31 PM re:GEORGIA GUIDESTONES

That is the dumbest thing I have seen, it asks for a population of 500 million on earth, what do we have to do about the other 6 billion, is this installation the idea of some closet Nazi in the cloak of an intellectual progressive, and worst of all coming out of Georgia, it has to be done by wirdos.
