Be a part of the Grove's Fun Zones for the ING Marathon

ing
The ING Miami Marathon is tomorrow morning and there are three Community Fun Zones in the Grove. That's where people gather in groups to cheer on the runners.

The locations in the Grove are:
Hurricane Bahangra Zone at 3220 Virginia Street (near Anokha, Mile 18)
Miami Capoeira (3015 Grand Avenue, Mile 18.5)

Shake-A-Leg (2620 S. Bayshore Drive).

The Marathon starts early downtown, there's no telling what time the runners will hit the Grove Zones.

Did anyone see the local grovite lady verbally accosting runners and people cheering. I am sure most of you know who I am talking about. She drives an old jaguar and looks almost EXACTLY like Cruela Da Ville (although she has red hair rather then Cruela's usual black and white). She was walking along the route SCREAMING at runners to get the hell out of the Grove. Dropping F-Bombs, etc etc. I was cheering and the woman literally accosted me telling me I wasn't a taxpayer (which I am by the way) and that everyone in the Grove hates the marathon. I mean I have heard a lot of bad language in my life, but good god this lady ones off her rocker today and was downright scary to the runners. Fortunately a policemen near me seemed to take care of her as she passed, but I was disgusted. She should have been arrested for assault.

She is a long time resident of the Grove and I was absolutely disgusted with her behavior. This also isn't the first time I have seen this. She verbally accosted the community organizers for Obama in West Grove asking them why the F--- they were operating an Obama volunteer office in the black part of town because it wasn't the real Grove and she didn't want to have to walk there (i mean "o the irony")

I was ashamed for us today.

Wow! I ran the half marathon, so the part of the route I was on was just in Miami Beach and downtown Miami. All through Miami Beach there were friendly people cheering and encouraging the runners. And we were the cause of Ocean Drive and Collins to be shut down. "Grovites" don't always have the best reputation in other parts of town sometimes, and that woman's behavior is a classic example of why. We, the sane Groveites, need to overcome that by countering the crazies when they act that way.
