The art is in the mail
The Windisch-Hunt Gallery is having a "Mail Art" exhibition in February, but they need your participation. They need you send in the art!
Mail Art is just that -- art sent through the mail. The above image arrived at the gallery the other day all the way from Germany. As you can see, it is a work of art (both sides).
The mail art may be envelopes or post cards. Please don't put anything inside the envelopes, they won't be opened. The deadline for all arrivals is February 10, 2009 so it may be coordinated and hung for the following weekend starting February 13, which is the Coconut Grove Arts Festival weekend and the weekend of this exhibition. (Please don't mail the art on the 13th, it must be in house by then).
This is open to calligraphers and artists of all disciplines. Your art will be seen by thousands, since 175,000 or more people will pass through the Grove that weekend for the Arts Festival, and many will wander into the Gallery since they always do. The Antiques Show is also that weekend.
For more info, please email awindisch@mac.com. You may send your Mail Art to: Windisch-Hunt Art Gallery, 2911 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove, FL 33133
