Wishing you all a happy and safe New Year's Eve
I'd like to thank you for coming back day after day to read the Grapevine. I know many of you come back to see what crazy thing I am going to say next. Others come for Coconut Grove news and events and others come for the photos of themselves and friends at past events.
For whatever reason, thanks for coming back. I am trying to make the Grapevine into a full time business, that's why I work so hard on it, but also, when I start something, I just dive in and want to do it all they way and not half-assed. I'm neurotic that way. A friend sends me corrections all the time, typos and things. I actually appreciate that. I want to get it right.
I know many of you think I sit at a sidewalk café and just blog stories all day. I actually do work for a living, but maybe in the new year, I can make the Grapevine my full time job. I like writing and photography and can combine them both here. Actually, I'll will that and put it into the Universe: I am going to make the Grapevine my full time job in 2009.
Most stories are timed to post at various times throughout the day, I am not sitting at the keyboard all day writing. You may see me out and about while a story is being posted at that very moment.
I remember one time when a story was posted about how great it is to end Sundays at the Sandbar Grill as the sun goes down, while at that actual moment, on a late Sunday afternoon, I was at Greenstreet with a bunch of friends.
I'm taking tonight off, but feel free to send me any of your photos. I'd love to see what you are all up to in the Grove tonight as you celebrate the arrival of 2009. Email them to me tomorrow and I'll post them.
I'd like to thank AnnaMaria and Harry for their help. They take many of the photos you see here and they cover events that I cannot attend. I hang out with AnnaMaria and Harry, too, they are great people and fun to be with.
Also many others send me items, story ideas and photos, too. I give them published credit on the photos, as for the news items and stories, most like to remain anonymous on news tips and gossip. You know who you are, and I thank you, I couldn't do this alone, but I know you don't want to be revealed so I am not mentioning any names.

Love the Grapevine, read it every night here in Brooklyn.
Love the Grove and visit several times a year since 1986.
Everytime someone I know is going to Miami/South Beach I tell them all about the Grove and check in with the Grapevine to see which places are currently happening!
The ones that check it out always love it!
Happy New Year and Good Luck to you in your quest to make it a full time gig. Keep up the Good Work!!

thanks for getting us all the scoop that you do; sometimes I just read it and shake my head saying - how does he know that? You let us know when new businesses are opening, what events are going on, and I was surprised that this was not already your full time job cause it does seem you are out and about all the time.
Grape love your blog, and I love living in the Grove ! If you are ever looking for help with your blog still let me know... Because I am looking for something creative and fun to do..
Happy New Year, Tom. Keep up the good work and hopefully it will be your full time job.
