We have a lot of "corporate" Scrooges in the Grove
But I find it very disturbing that the chain stores along Grand Avenue just gave us a flat out "no" when asked to participate.
These chain stores never participate in any Grove events and all this entailed was putting a small sign up in the window. I am the one doing the running around by collecting and delivering the toys for the drive. All they had to do was put the sign up.
They say the reason is "corporate." Corporate this, corporate that. B.S. They reap the rewards of Grove locals and visitors doing business with them, they should give something back, like putting a small sign in the window to encourage people to donate to a worthy cause at Christmas time. How would they like if everyone in the Grove said "no" to them and shopped, ate and brought their business elsewhere?
Anyway, the drive is still on until tomorrow. You'll see signs in the windows of participants. They don't all have boxes set up, but they are collecting the toys if you see the signs. So please feel free to drop of a toy or two and they'll get to the right place by Christmas. Toy drive info here.

Johnny Rockets is the worst. They take and take and never give back.
We are in 1 block of Johnny Rockets and would have loved to participate if asked, but were not. Please make sure that you ask all to participate so that the ones who were not asked do not look like a "scrooge in the Grove".
