South Grovites are not happy with SUV test drivers
It's part of the old Grosverner estate (founder of National Geographic) and had to be the most expensive test track ever built. Right now they are trying to put it back and restore it to the way it was.
The neighbors were at first happy about the new traffic light at the crazy intersection of Douglas Road, Ingraham Hwy. and Park Avenue. But it may have been better off not to install the light. Now traffic is backed up for half a mile at certain rush hour times. It's the "law of unintended consequences," a friend told me. The issue is being looked into and will be fixed.

That new light at Douglas & Ingraham needs some tweaking still. I don't know why it stops southbound traffic continuing onto Ingraham. Because of the road configuration (the closing of Park ave), there shouldn't be a need to stop the southbound traffic.
Regardless, it is causing major adjustments to South Grove traffic flow. The Land Rover event was a non-issue for me. I don't think really had any impact.
I love the new light. I hope it discourages thru traffic and racing.
I think a light at that curve in the road is pure overkill. Drivers were easily able to navigate the left onto Douglas without the need to literally put a stop to the flow on Main Highway.
It's a "traffic calming device" that going to add resident road rage - especially to the homes on Edgewater, Battersea (and others) when savvy drivers discover it's much faster to cut through the residential streets and catch the new green light.
I have a feeling that "solution" (to what I don't know) is going to need to be re-thought. A boo boo similar to our now defunct, yet costly "information Booths".
Several deaths have occurred there in recent years, mostly after 2am.
Try running or boking through those corners, of the so called "bike X-terra path" or lack there-of-,, it's a guaranteed badly twisted ankle, broken bike, or close encounter of the Emergency Clinic- type with cars..
Just try it, day or Night, Mr Sarnoff. Put on your racing shoes at 5am, as you claim, Mr Commisionner, and get out there to that intersection we're talking about here.
whats up with the Commodore Bike Trail improvements....
The traffic light and street clsoing no way passed Miami Dade County traffic rules for calming devices. This insane set up was thought up by your favorite Commish. yes once again folks you can thank the District 2 Office. One staff member was overheard boasting how they got it pushed thru. Now it's a big mess.
Someone complained about Land Rover using part of the Kampong? Really? I live next door and while there was some occassional noise it was only during daylight hours. I had no problems with the short event nor did I hear complaints from my nieghbors. I guess you can't please everyone. The Kampong has been a good neighbor and if this short event brought it financial support then okay by me.
