Doing the "Mangobama" all afternoon
Today Francesca Terry taught the Mangobama dance to about 20 hearty souls and to others who popped in and out of the art gallery.
It was one of those small town moments that I love. As the music blasted (sung with its own words to the tune of the Locomotion), Bob Brennan, certified arborist (and Santa), filmed the group. And as that went on, customers wandered in and out of the gallery, enjoying the art and enjoying the dancing even more. It was a pleasant surprise for them, mostly tourists who came about the charming scene right out of the movies.
The Mangobama dance will be performed at this Sunday's King Mango Strut around the band Road Kill's Mangobama float. I love the part that says, "Rolling over Hillary and John McCain now." And "Say hello to Camelot and Bye Bye Bush." You can hear it at the King Mango Strut website here. It will just start to play when the site opens.
Be forewarned, once you hear the song, it will play non-stop in your head forever. I still cannot shake it. So click the link at your own peril.
