City Hall Christmas Tree is lit, let the holidays begin
Last night's City Hall Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony brought out lots of people. Many families showed up for the yearly event. The weather was perfect. There's a long lead up (almost two hours) until the tree is actually lit.
It's basically a love fest for the politicians on hand. They are busy kissing each other's butts rather than getting on with the business at hand -- the actual tree lighting. You can see them here. How many politicians does it take to pull the switch? The only one with any class seemed to be Tomas Regalado, why? because he didn't show up. His daughter showed up for him.
She is shown above at left, with her head popping in. Behind her is Comm. Marc Sarnoff, he was cool, then Comm. Joe Sanchez is next with his kids, there's Comm. Angel Gonzlaz and Mayor Manny Diaz with his daughter. Comm. Michelle Spence-Jones was also there, but she usually can't be bothered, even when it comes to photo opps, which may be good thing.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on an old fashioned fire truck with Frosty the Snowman. There were eight or nine tents with food. Lots of bad food. Not good food, yet people lined up and ate like pigs. Free food, so people show up.
The kids all enjoyed it. These lucky guys got to ride in the fire truck with Santa.
There were four bands present from Miami's four high schools. They all did an excellent job.
I caught this group of reindeer waiting patiently for the festivities to begin early in the evening. That's Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer all the way to the right.

If you think the food was bad then you missed the BBQ from James BBQ. They know as soon as they light the tree people will leave so that is their way of keeping the crowd around. I thought it was a great event and a chance to kick off the holiday season with your neighbors.
Why wasn't the band from the local school the Academy of Arts and minds invited?
The A&M students were too busy hating.
Hatin' I don't think so! Obvioulsy the community was robbed of the opportunity to hear a real band playing real music. Now more so, thanks to A & M's school administration, once more the true voice of music has been silenced.
Who put's that much lipstick and makeup on litte girls, they should
be shot!
I had a great time at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall. The food was delicious, no lines, tables and chairs.
It was great having the marching bands there with the dancers. Good job City and all those who put in their hard work to make this annual event a success.
I look forward to going again next year!
