FedEx/Kinkos or the UPS Store?
Why use them? Do you use them? And if so, why is FedEx/Kinko's always empty, while the UPS Store seems to have steady business?

FedexKinkos is a very convenient place, say you ran out of ink and need to make urgent copies or volume coying, print something, or need shipping supplies, or internet access, send/receive a fax, or just Fedex something fast. They'll have the envelopes, forms to fill, you get out of your house or office, walk OUTSIDE around the Grove, get your busines done, ship your stuff, you don't have to call Fedex or Ups and wait for the guy to show up.
Kinkos work well everywhere in this country, it should work at its Great Location now in the Grove. It's cleaner, btighter and better situated than UPS, and you can do more things, use their computer, scissors, tape, boxes, whatever. You have the Bookstore right accross the street.
Reasons People go to UPS instead of FedexKinko's? 1/ A popular misconception that UPS is cheaper than Fedex. Simply untrue. But especially: 2/ Lack of advertisement, many people don't even know its there, they opened up not too long ago, and haven't done any marketing. I bet that if they printed 500 flyers offering their services, the place would be packed. They are having a party soon for promotion, finally.
Just visit, take care of your business and talk to Madelyn.
I think Spot Color on the corner of grand and 37th blows them both out of the water as far as pricing and customer service goes with the printing, local grove business too. the use of scissors and tape though at fedex store is tempting.
Kinko's is certainly big, bright, convenient and friendly. On the other hand, it's a corporate-owned store, whereas the UPS store is locally-owned by one Jeff Catanach, who has gone out of his way to support all manner of local initiatives. Now there may indeed be a few things one can do at Kinko's but not at UPS, but we should patronize Jeff's operation whenever possible if we really believe in the value of small shop owners vs. big chains.
I can't say if this is specifically the case with the Grove location, but UPS Stores offer the equivalent of PO boxes to persons who do not otherwise have a local address.
The US Post Office is weird that way. The only way you can get a PO Box there is to show them "proof" of local residence - such as a received piece of mail showing your name and address. Thus, when I first arrived in Miami and was looking for a place to rent, I could not get a USPS PO box! The UPS store saved the day, and it is a great way to receive packages securely while you are at work, instead of having them left at the front door for burglar bait.
Maybe its parking. UPS store is in that strip mall next to subway/7-11 and has parking. fedex doesn't.
also kinkos is newer.
No parking at FEDEX on Grand.....I drive to Fedex on Ponce in CG because of the parking.
No FREE parking, you mean, there are about 5 parking lots around, and dozens of empty parking spaces with meters all over Grand. I a few quarters or a buck per hour is too much to go to a convenient place.
But I agree Parking in the Grove, in general, in most places should be free like in other cities.
I just WALK to the Place, from Bayshore Dr, enjoy the weather.
That's my point, if you LIVE or WORK in the Grove, you just walk there. Who cares about parking?
Not everyone has time to walk leisurely to Kinko's - parking is a problem around there because there are too many cabs hanging around Virginia St. and then other cabs come up and double park and talk to them.
UPS also has Code 33.
I have been to both of these establishments and UPS offers better customer service and is extremely pleasant to patronize. FedEx/Kinkos was not as friendly and did not give the best customer service on the day I visited that location. I would rather pay more for a good experience than save money for a bad one.
UPS Store is more courteous and efficient as well as stocked with essentials like stamps.
