Tourists wandering around

tourists
Tourists exploring the Grove early on a weekend morning. Notice how clean Fuller Street is. Frank from Barracuda told me they were working on that and it seems like they are. Spotless except for a few fallen leaves.

For $1.00 off on any drink at Barracuda, mention "Coconut Grove Grapevine" to Frank.

I noticed they're redoing the bathrooms at the Barracuda too... looks like they are really trying to clean up the place.

Grove was absolutely DEAD tonite. Ive never seen such a dead Thursday night. A little crowd of college frat/sorority people showed up dressed in 80's gear at Senor Frogs around 930p but other than that there were tumbleweeds blowing thru the Grove tonite. Really surprising to me.

The Grove is dead on college night because the students are going straight to the other close places where they don't make the bars close at 3 a.m.: Mary Brickell Village and Sunset Place. The impact of the "5 a.m. closing" legislation has hurt more than the clubs that were open until 5; it has caused business to drop in the other bars and restaurants in the Grove, too.

It wasnt just the college bars that were dead. Ive NEVER seen Le Bouchon du Grove with only 1 table occupied and that was the scene last night. We chatted with the owner who said its been rough all summer. His other place, Le Petit, had a decent amount of tables seated but they were pretty empty when I walked by about an hour, hour-and-a-half later.
