Today in the Grove

sunday2
Lots going on in the Grove today. Above is Johnny Rockets GM Jen, with one of her staff stopping traffic in the middle of town.

Jon Silkworth and Andrew Raskin of Bam Solar Power were working today, while everyone else played around them. But at least they did it outdoors at Starbucks, enjoying the scenery.

Nicky and her daughter were enjoying Sunday in the Grove at Le Bouchon. Nicky reads cards at the Bookstore.

Grovite Alex Rodriguez (another A-Rod) left, entertaining his friends at Aladdin.

He is smoking a Hookah pipe.

Artist Audrey Scott surrounded by all that makes Coconut Grove a destination.

Below, artist Larry Joe Miller from Hollywood, FL returning with his entry in the En Plein Art art contest going on all weekend.

I always see those guys at BAMPower up on roofs installing Solar Panels. Glad to see they get to have some time off of those hot roofs!

A few of u wrote in the Grapevine all week-end long; look, look, look at all the people, all the artist; the restaurants were full, tourist were everywhere, what a great destination place CG is; that big balloon at peacock park, etc, etc & etc. I live blocks from downtown Grove and I went down town, namely hopeful that is was true there were bodies everywhere spending money in our community.
What in the h--l were you people talking about? Rather than engage in hopeful, seemingly positive mental states of mind, why not get real and figure something out that would in fact turn your fantacies into realities?

Well do you think all the people here where photoshopped into the scenes? That we placed them at the restaurants to fake that they were eating and hanging out?

Not quite sure what you are getting at.

What am I getting at? There are people who think they're positive when they state a glass is half full. I'll wager you not one merchant thought the Grove was half full and in my opinion it was much less full than half full. Many years ago the Grove was always full and the merchants earned a living wage. I had hoped to see a lot of people spending money in "our" community, yours and mine. Today was dead also. I guess we just think differently about the numbers meaning something positive. In fact I'm a loner and yet I wanted to see a lot of people helping our merchants out and from what I read in the Grapevine sounded good, but in reality, well! Sorry

What a sourpuss. Guess this person thinks all these people are fake and that they didn't pay their bills at the restaurants they were eating at.

I'm sorry but I read the above and couldn't help but laugh at the irony. One of the photos in the blog is two workers from BAM Solar. Guess what? They are HQ'd in Miami. Even better, they are spending thier "peanuts" in our hood. Get a clue and wake up to the new world!

Granted, CG isn't NYC, but there are a lot of other things going on.

I guess your litmus test regarding the economy equates to: "How many people are buying things they couldn't afford in the first place".

God Help Us!
