We need an old fashioned diner in the Grove
While you know I love all of our Grove restaurants and frequent them all often (some more than others), I can't help but think we still need an old-fashioned, old-town diner right here in the Grove. I think it would help complete the Grove.
I was at the Gables Diner this past weekend and it seemed like such a perfect fit for the Grove. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it seems that at one time or other, the whole town ends up there.
It reminds me a bit of the old Lums that use to be up on the hill, where the Oasis Café bridal shop are now. It's a shame that I actually had to leave Coconut Grove to get some old-fashioned chicken soup for my cold.
Is there a location available in the Grove now for a real diner? I'm trying to think of a good spot.

Could've gotten your soup at Coral Bagels...
Coral Bagels is a diner.
There was the Pharmacy. But you got too upscale for that.
OMG - Coral Gables Diner is so NOT a real diner!
I'm from New Jersey, which should be called "The Diner State" instead of the Garden State, and this place doesn't even come close to what a "real" diner is.
I challenge anyone at the Coral Gables "Diner" to make me an order of Disco Fries. Any waitress at a NJ diner will take that order without batting an eyelash. And how about offering a Taylor ham, egg & cheese sandwich? Now THAT'S diner food!
Not to mention, the food at CGD is incredibly bland and ridiculously overpriced.
I live very close by to it and don't even think about going there for breakfast, or any other meal, for that matter.
But that's my two-cents.
Oh - and I also read your post about Coral Bagles. That's not a real diner, either.
Closer, but not quite...
Hey Jersey, just wondering, is it true?? Do you really glow in the dark? Isnt that were they filmed
The Toxic Avenger??
LOL, Just kidding. Jersey diner's are the bomb. I'm from Brooklyn and have been to many a jersey diner before or after a trip to the shore.
Honey, I glow in the dark AND in the light!
If you went to the Jersey shore (LBI, I hope), than you probably remember the "Jersey Girls, Best in the World" t-shirts, available to win at all the boardwalk game stands. Good god - LOL.
But, seriously, nothing sobers a person up like a 3am diner excursion...
God, I miss those.
I know a lot of people who are still longing for the old yummy Lum's. This isn't it.
Jersey Girls, They had the same tee's For Brooklyn Girl's. Every other stand at the Italian feast's
used to sell them.
Havent been to LBI in a few years, but my Sis goes a few times a year.
Too long a Drive for me.I like the tiki bar and point pleasant though.
Havent been there this year either.
All my Buds I used to go with got Married.
If you like the Gables Diner, I know this place youre going to love.
Its called Denny's.
(Right across from UM.)
Gables Diner sucks.
Their food is outrageously expensive for the quality.
They add charges that rip you off.
Absolutely un-accomodating to any changes.
Why anyone would want another one is beyond me. A place to avoid
