Planning Department approves new Milam's plans

The Milam's exterior remodeling Class II permit has been approved with conditions.

As you know, they plan to expand the store and the exterior would consist of keystone cladding, oolite bricks, green wall, canvas and metal decorative canopies, with new landscaping planters and trees. They want wider sidewalks, a new outdoor eating area with tables and umbrellas and they want to improve the access drive with new median landscaping. This has all been approved.

One issue still under consideration by the zoning board is the signage. They need to present more information like the dimensions, the type, etc.

So basically, Milam's has the green light and as soon as Walgreen's vacates the space next door, they may proceed. You may have noticed that Walgreen's new store is going up quite fast at the corner of US1 and Bird.

Thanks Grove First for saving the grocery store. Sure beats having an industrial warehouse taking over that entire site. Sounds exciting. I like the outdoor cafe -that is what Fresh Market should have.
