Moving fast at the post office

postofficelot
The post office lot is looking better and better. It's all cleaned up now, the curbs on the street have been completed and it's wide open now. After this photo was taken, they put down some dark gravel or blacktop. It looks so big and nice with the fence gone and the wide open spaces. They are scheduled to be done by the end of the month.

Is this going to be public parking with meters?

I stopped by the other day and was disappointed that it appears that the new parking design has no appreciable storm water retention areas design into the site. For that matter, there are very minimal landscaped areas at all. Understanding that the desire is to maximize the coverage and in turn the number of parking spaces but with all new parking site plans we need to do all that we can to incorporate storm water retention areas, incorporate pervious materials and enhance the filtration of the rain run-off. Our municipal officials who review these plans and issue the permits need to work with the architects and designers to identify where we can incorporate these design elements where ever possible.
