Clearing things up
Basically, I wasn't trying to make anyone look stupid, so if that came across, I apologize, my point was that people are not very aware of the good things the Village Council does. They get them confused with the City Commission, who many people do not care for.
In another effort not to long ago to "take back the Grove," the Village Council was born. It is the Cocoanut Grove Village Council. (Spelled Cocoanut, the way it was back in the 1800s). That's one thing that bugs me too, why does the Village Council stationery and press releases and such spell it Coconut when it is really Cocoanut?
Anyway, I guess it's nice to know that the Village Council members are humble people who walk around the village and go about their business without announcing themselves, but it would really be nice if people knew who they were.
When you see Dave Collins coming down the block with his usual Starbucks cup, it would be nice to say something to him if you have a concern, of course, maybe Dave wants to be anonymous, but I don't think so. I also don't think Felice would mind if you popped into the Bookstore and chatted with her about issues.
That was my point -- the Village Council needs to "advertise themselves," maybe just like Anokha and Pisco do. Maybe we can have photos put up somewhere, you know like where they have the managers photos up on the wall in Publix? Maybe we can post the Village Council members' photos somewhere so that when people see them, they'll recognize them.
As much as we like to think everyone is informed and on top of everything that goes on around here, that's not the case. The Village Council meetings have the same residents there month after month and many are not even aware of the meetings, even though I post them here and they are posted everywhere.
I may start posting their photos here. So when people see them, they will know them.
