Chili Cook-off this weekend at Fat Tuesday

I was enjoying the chili at Basil in the Grove yesterday and was reminded of the Chili Cook-off on Saturday, September 20, at Fat Tuesday. The guys at Basil will be entering their secret recipe. That's their chili to the left.

Basil's chili is very light, not like any chili I have had before. It's delicious and doesn't fill you up. I am dying to check out the other recipes on Saturday, too.

The Cook-off is from noon to 6 pm. Many local restaurants are participating and local residents may present their own chili in a judging contest.
Restaurants will be selling their chili for $5.00, which includes beer or soda. Local residents' recipes will be judged, but not sold.

WSVN’s 7NEWS co-anchor Craig Stevens will join in on the fun as a guest judge. Additional festivities will take place throughout the shopping center including live country western music from The Ramblers Band and DJ Friendly, beer specials from Land Shark Lager and Budweiser, giveaways, kids activities, a waiter’s race, and much more. The event is free, although guests can purchase tickets to enjoy chili from participating cook-off restaurants, beer and refreshments.
