Why is Qdoba now closed on weekends?
What if Kinko's next door started closing on weekend and then next the Shaq 24 Hour Fitness gym decided to only be open 12 hours and then some other stores close up on weekends.
I think the Business Improvement Committee or Chamber of Commerce should step in here and ask them to remain open, even at reduced hours.
I know business may have been slow, but it's like that all over. Qdoba -- open, open, open, oh wait, that's Mervyn's. Don't you wish Mervyn's was back in their old spot rather than Home Depot?

We don't want closed stores or dark pockets of stores in the Grove; it is bad enough when they close they put up that ugly brown paper like the owners did where the flower shop was. Cocowalk and Mayfair should make sure they stores stay open and all close at the same time also.
Hey jump over to IQ on the 2nd level of Cocowalk; it's owned by the same people that own Jaguar so you know it has to be good.
Qdoba on Miracle Mile is closed on weekends also.
Company policy?
Grape, you're always ranting about how you would spend other people's money. Why don't you open a business in the Grove and put your money where your mouth is?
And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Why don't you try to find blog stories 365 days a year and try to post them without being put down by someone on every single one?
Same management at both. I think their company policy will is bad for the Grove and the Gables. If the rest of the businesses are open, they should be open. How would it be if a mall had some stores open and some closed? Not very cohesive and hurtful to the neighborhood. (My two cents worth).
PS, I do own a biz in the Grove, a very successful one which affords me the luxury of blogging all day. If I opened and closed the business on a whim, like Qdoba, I wouldn't be so successful and be able to blog all day.
Can't we all just get along! LOL It doesn't look good for Qdoba, they are always empty.

I don't see that the BIC has any policing powers over anything. Being that Qdoba is a private business, I assume the owners are the only ones who can decide when it remains open.
If it were in a mall, that would be different. Malls have strict guidelines as to when businesses must remain open.
BTW... why go there at all? Pretty lousy food from what I've tasted. Go to Berries instead. Much better.
Unfortunately I give Qdoba no more then 6 months, I like their food and go there for week about once a week but there is never a line during the lunch rush, they've gotta be hurting.
Property owners should ask businesses if they are going to be open on weekends and evenings; I know they need tenants but this only hurts the Grove. A restaurant that closes on the weekends? Then they wonder why they go out of business.
u r still poor excuse for a human being GRAPE
Wow. someone is jealous of you Grape.
why would anyone be jealous of grape common
I think he is in love with me. He comments here daily, usually with is name posted, but when he gets evil like this he is anonymous. I match the IP addresses. Can't wait to confront him in the street. I have deleted most of his posts, but I am gonna post his picture with all his rude comments one day. Just as soon as I get the picture.
I love these anonymous people who never show up to a Grove meeting, never do anything to enhance the commmunity and then they call you a poor excuse for a human being anonymously when you are doing a great community service? Can't wait for you to punch him out when you do see him. Please post pix of this jealous coward Grape!
Wow, what a douche. It is odd that Qdoba is closed on the wknds, since you think that is when they would do more business. I went there for the 1st time last week and got a great burrito. The thing was colossal. When I went there, the store was DEAD. Not a single person in there. The staff was polite and friendly though. I think that store location is tough for walk-in biz. They should have one of those folded signs on the sidewalk that points to the restaurant or something.
I love Qdoba. I have stopped in a lot on weekends. It's true that they are never crowded. Not sure why, the one in the Gables always has a long line waiting to order.
There are more offices in the Gables, so there are more people who go out for lunch
Um, I think Grape is a pretty good excuse for a human being. (And I've never met him.)
I think his posts are great. I always know what is going on in the Grove, which I happen to love.
Posting 365 days a year is not easy, but I check in a couple of times a day to see what's up. I think this site is a great resource.
LOL, I usually sign my name, but this time I'm going to be anonymous, because I don't want Grape to think I'm kissing a--.
If everyone who goes to Qdoba asks the manager to stay open on weekends they may realize there is a need.
Chik-Fil-A is also closed on Sunday, for religious reasons...it could be possibly the same reason for Qdoba, but I have absolutely no idea.
Even though I don't agree with everything Grape says, i truly enjoy this blog and happy that I stumbled across it about 6 months ago. While sometime I think Grape is a little negative, I agree that it's difficult to post different blogs every day of the year. If it was a blog on entire dade county, then it would be easier but Grape blogs about an area that is relatively small. Grape, I know I speak for most of the people on this blog when I say thank you for your work and keep the information/stories coming. To all those who don't aqree with Grape, it's ok to post comments but taking personal shots isn't warranted. Thank you.
now I can't wait for that, hmm my pic on u blog,
that would really cost u a pretty penny dude when court date comes.
u r pathetic and u know it
i go to Qdoba at least twice a week and the employees told me they were closing b/c they just weren't selling enough on the weekends nothing to do with religion. They also are closing earlier than they used to b/c of the same reason. I guess it's just a sign on the times.
Who is this creep Tom? Email me his IP address. And for your info, if a person is in a public place, it is legal to take their photos. If you don't want your photo taken, stay home and stop threatening people.
pap you have to ask for the permission to take or publish photo unless u r dealing with publicity trust me i have done it before
A blog, a newspaper, a tv news show do not need permission to show people in public in a photograph. For commcerical purposes like an ad, of course they do, as a "news shot" they do not.
If it was illegal, there would be no papparazzi and no stalking celebs. Obviously it is legal to take people's pics in public and publish them.
Look at the post office meeting photo below. All those people were photographed legally. If they showed up for a public meeting it is legal to take their pictures and publish them as Grape has done here.
Grape does have a legal right to expose this low life. Legal rights of photographers here: http://www.kantor.com/blog/Legal-Rights-of-Photographers.pdf
go for it love for this blog to be terminated,
blame our commissioner Marc Sarnoff. His handy work has made Coconut Groove downtown a dead zone. Little traffic of people, and outrages parking fees. I am a homeowner in the grove. Its a shame to see this area neglected to a new direction that has made resturants, clubs, and stores close down. While the Brickell area has seen wonderful business growth in the last year. Thanks to Sarnoff hands off approach to that area. To bad he gets in the way of most things in the Grove.
Has anybody heard anything further news about the memo to himself.
