Well, the current Herald article says that Tu Tu Tango is closing.
Yup, the current Herald article announced it four days after Grapevine announced it. Good scoop Grape! You beat all the media in town on this one by four days.
How sad that Coconut Grove is loosing TuTu Tango.
It is hard to believe that a successful long time Grove business like this one has written us off.
With all of the positive things happening you would think they would now see the light at the end of the tunnel and hang in there a little longer for their well deserved rewards.
This is not a good sign for the Grove.
If you go back in time, we all cried when Cocowalk was built. The "party" street, Commodore Plaza, became a ghost town. All along Commodore, businesses and galleries closed because everyone was at Cocowalk and Mayfair. The Village Inn, Kaleidoscope, the Crystal Gallery, the Taurus, all gone.
For 20 years TuTu Tango has made money. Now they aren't. Like most businesses, when you don't make money, you close down, just like they closed down on Commodore. Other than in tourist season, I really think there are just too many businesses in the Grove. And now that the economy is down, I think that it'll be more than TuTu Tango that will be closing their doors for good.
That's okay, though. I hear that they'll be building 6 blocks of stores in the West Grove soon.
as chains go, tutu tango was less offensive than many.
strange they arent making it, given their sort of latin influence.
dont weep too much. another chain will soon follow.
Is it really a "chain" if it only has 3-4 locations in the COUNTRY? Cafe TTT is unique in the Grove and Miami. When I walk in there, I get zero feeling that I am in a "chain restaurant". Sucks that its been 86'd...
Did I just read here that there are too many businesses in the Grove - NOT! What we need is a better mix of businesses, more varied restaurants, typical Village businesses, like a shoe repair, a bakery, anything affordable, more parking, free parking for residents for 30 min to run errands, restaurants that validate your parking.....c'mon get real.
