I believe their last night "open for business' was last night, no?
and another one bites the dust...
sad
I was mentioning the closing of Tutu Tango to my dad on Sunday. He knows one of the guys who started it back in the day, and he said the guy told him it could only survive as a single restaurant. The guy got out after they expanded it to multiple locations. I guess he was right.
It isn't as if a gastronomical treasure was lost. Honestly, one more funky restaurant that didn't adapt with the times, lost its relevance, and went out of business.
I was more of a fan of the hamburger place that was on the 2nd floor where the Argentine restaurant now is... and I can't even remember their name anymore.
I don't see what the hoopla is all about.
It was more than just a restaurant to many of us. If you don't get it, you never will.
While, to some, Tu Tu Tango was not a "gastronomical treasure", I think most people are sad about the demise of Tu Tu Tango because it really embodied the essence of Coconut Grove. It was a place loaded with funk, art, and a laid back social vibe. The dishes encouraged socializing and the various art and other entertainment provided plenty of stimulation. I dont think I ever witnessed someone walk in that place wearing a business suit. Thats kinda what the Grove is all about, or at least how Ive always viewed it and why I enjoy it.
I'm sooooo sad about this.
I'm gonna have to swing by Fat Tuesdays for some Attitude Improvement. With a floater, of course! If they close that I may never stop by the Cocowalk again!!!
I loved the Terrace at Tangos,
great view.

Has anyone else tried Paco's Way? My wife an I have been there a few times and really enjoyed ourselves. Topas for food (so same type of sharing experience as Tu Tu - which I always enjoyed)and a real freindly, neighborhood atmosphere and really great "spanish-style" music (not that a gringo like me is an expert). But has some of the small neighborhood funky charm.
