Tomas Regalado to announce bid for mayor

While election time for mayor is a long time off, Tomas Regalado (left) will announce that he will be running for Mayor of Miami. Current mayor Manny Diaz (right) will be in office until November 2009, when he must step down due to term limits.

Also with both Commissioners Sarnoff and Sanchez having indicated that they may throw their hats into the mayorial ring; it should make for an interesting climate on the City Commission Daiz. The climate change that this will produce should help Gore with his solutions to Global Warming. Let's just hope it doesn't get ugly with Commissioners Regalado and Sanchez hitting below the belt and attacking Commissioner Sarnoff with his recent questionable actions that his office has taken since his assuming office. One has to wonder if Commissioner Sarnoff would be in the pickle barrel if he had not fired Frank Rollason and kept him as his Chief-of-Staff?

I have heard that Commissioner Gimenez will also be running. I would say that amongst all the potential candidates listed above and Gimenez, Regalado has the best chance.

Wow, what a change, switch Regalado for Diaz, or for that matter Gimenez, Sanchez or Sarnoff. South Florida politics will not be cleaned up until FBI gets in and also the people vote for capital punishment apply to corrupt politicians.

It would be the first time this city gets a Mayor for the people if Commissioner Regalado wins!

Ha! Good work citizens of Coconut Grove with exposing "Secret Memo, Who's your Grandaddy Sarnoff"....

There is no way he can become Mayor now!

Now it's time to bring a REAL OUTSIDER into the scene.

Let's find an someone who does not lie, that is educated AND of sound mind, and who will not squander our tax dollars.

This person should not have any present association with City of Miami government at all.

If we can find someone who meets those qualifications very early on, we can begin to build the momentum needed now to elect him/her into office in 2009.

Any suggestions?

From concrete Manny to Regalado, who knows what "going green" really means. A refreshing change. :)

Those opposing Regalado, remember how he fought for the grove (home depot) when it wasnt even his district.
This indeed will be a refreshing change

Diaz is one of the worst mayor's in the City's history, let's not repeat that. Regalado is actually more of a Groveite than most Groveite's. He cares about our community. Let's all back him. We don't need more selfish people in office lining their pockets and only looking out for number one.

Commissioner Gimenez would be the best man to take the helm. He left the City in great shape before he left. He understands the needs of the City from the lowest levels to the highest levels.

The most important, he is as honest as they come. The others are true politicians. Gimenez is something different. He is a public servant, who is fair, thoughtful, and intelligent.

You may not agree with his philosophy, but, he will give you a chance to make your argument, and he will let you know exactly where he stands. He doesn't go out there and do any political grandstanding like Regalado, Sanchez, or, more recently Sarnoff.

Unfortunately for the City of Miami, I think Gimenez might opt to stay in the County and run for County Mayor in 2012. The City's misfortune is the County's fortune.

The county.....seriosuly? I think its a pretty well known fact that the county is all sorts of messed up. At least i know what commissioner regalado will vote for (no development, no on taxes) mostly from his past record. sanchez changes up but he will go along the lines of manny, which isnt bad if you like manny. i will vote through history of voting record. but im all for the county getting fixed...i would love the charter to be re-written and i can actually get decent public transportation

I agreed that Diaz is the worst mayor's in the City's history, let's not repeat that, all he care is to favorite his pocket and the one of hos friends, look at the buildings in Downtown Miami.. In my opinion Regalado is the best man. He cares about our community and he is an honest man, that leaves a odest life, like anomral individual.. Let's all back him. We don't need more selfish people in office stealing our money.
