New in town: Pisco Seafood Bar & Grille

Pisco Seafood Bar & Grille -- new in the Grove at 3310B Mary Street, specializes in Peruvian cuisine, with recipes prepared by their own Chef brought directly from Peru. Although seafood, especially authentically prepared Ceviche, is the main attraction, the menu is packed with the tastiest surprises, and there is something for everyone.

If you’re counting carbs, go for a Tiradito or any one of the various Ceviche dishes. If you are not, then go for an authentic Arroz con Mariscos – a fabulous seafood and rice mélange. If meat is your thing, it’s there too.

The restaurant has an elegant dining room, sidewalk seating and a full bar that will feature Happy Hour, Monday through Friday from 5 to 8, and starting April 10, they will offer "Jazz Thursdays" with Grove favorite, Joe Donato.

Parking is directly above the street at the Oak Avenue garage or across the street. You can't miss the place, they always have such elegant white covered tables outside.

it is the neighborhood restaurant and Lord knows nothing has ever worked there since the built it, we should helped them. I am a chef and caterer, love peruvian food, I was there the other day, ordered tiradito and Lomo Saltado, Tiradito was good, Lomo had a good flavor very authentic, but they used cheap cut of meat (not beef tenderloin) so it was naturally hard as hell.
There is a waitress with blondish hair somewhere around 45 years old (homey looking), smoking in front of the restaurant and she would go back in not even washed her hands and cum to the table. I thought that was really unacceptable for the restaurant, if you have to smoke freaking hide somewhere.
They did not have enough cash in the register apparently so it took them 20 min to give me change, with combination that computers were down too.
Look chef definitely has the potential, now if he will use it to his advantage and make restaurant work I am not sure. I think owners are clueless who ever they are.
I would definitely go back but look for water/waitress that does not smoke.

Wow, already a bad experience. At least the food was decent.

The problem with this particular location and many others in the Grove is that restauranteurs set up shop and then just expect the public to just walk on in. HELLO! Youre on the outskirts of the business district where very few park or walk in! These owners need to get aggressive. Jazz Thursdays aint gonna cut it when many other places in the Grove already have popular Thursday night gimmicks. They need to get out there and promote like crazy. They could focus on the chef and Peruvian cuisine, live music, ease of parking (there are 2 lots right there), or their happy hour that gives an extra hour (5-8p) than everyone else. Those are just ideas to start.

Case and point - Al Fresco on Commodore. I had walked by that place thousands of times and seen a sign for "Cucina Creativa" which I assumed was a kitchen supply store. Turns out it was a restaurant that soon failed or had its name changed to Al Fresco. The owner of Al Fresco went to the Taste of the Grove and made sure that everyone who came within a 3 foot radius of him got a flyer. They also started events with movies, etc, and improved the signage so you actually know there is a restaurant there.

Id really like to see someone get it right at that corner for once because the revolving door that plagues that corner is getting old. Not to mention that I live nearby and would love a new place to grab a bite.

They just became members of Code 33- they are anxious to please. It is not always easy getting a new restaurant up and running and staffed properly - so give them a chance.

blind mind is right. the same people who run pisco ran the cuban joint that was there before that, which was pretty much dead all the time for about a year. i guess by simply changing the name and the menu they thought increase business. also, i know that is a city owned garage and must be getting rent dirt cheap because there are already quite a empty storefronts closer to the center of the grove that are prepped for restaurants, ie; the old news cafe.

Reminds me of Babu Batt on Seinfeld.

HAHAHA!! Babu Bott!

To the anonymous who commented about "giving a chance", those words should be echoed to the actual business owners. Give yourselves a chance to compete and survive in the Grove by making efforts to draw customers in to "give you a chance".

Silk is wrong. This is not the same restaurant as the one that was there before with a different name. That is how rumors get started, and places get 8-balled before they even have a chance to exist. Then we get whining and complaining about the "demise" of the Grove.

The owner of Pisco already has a successful restaurant in Kendall. He looked at various neighborhoods before choosing the Grove, and is quite excited to be here. He brought the chef in directly from Peru. His menu was composed with the consultation of some rather big-name chefs in Miami. This guy is doing his research, and at the suggestion of many Grovites, sought and secured Joe Donato to start a Jazz Thursday Happy Hour line up.

Also, get real, there is no rent in the Grove, that is "dirt" or even "cement floor" cheap! A restaurant is not something one does because the rent is cheap-- a restaurant is an endeavor of excruciating hours, unless you are some celebrity lending your name to a restaurant, and even those fail (Cameron Diaz, Michael Caine, et al can tell you).

The menu is varied, the prices, especially lunch, are very reasonable, my tiradito was delicious, and the service was quite good. So go, support the place and wish the owner well.

Since when is Michael Caine a celebrity?

Thanks for clearing up the ownership. I look forward to giving the place a try when I get a chance.

to silk- well, then all the more credit to the new owner for hiring staff that would have otherwise been out of work.

dont' you have anything better to do than watch the guy who eats from 5-8. Maybe you could work something out with the city and run the black booths from 5-8!!

I'd man the booth but i hear there's a guy that goes around and quizes the people that work in them asking them crazy questions like where's cocowalk or who's buried in grants tomb, sometimes he even gets 'em to cuss.

Yes, promotion is a good thing, and when music is used as a amenity, why not tell people? Our June edition of Hot House Florida just went out, which carries listings for these types of music nights for free, and we just found out about it, which means it will be July until we can carry the listing. And we didn't hear about from the owners or the musicians. Hot House Florida puts out a little over 175,000 issues each year, for free, and we have to track down the music in the clubs and pitch a free placement. All they have to do is let us know about it. No trade-outs, no begging, no expectations other than correct information fo the listings. Go figure.
