Confused and mentally abused at the info booth
When I am walking by the info booths on a rare day that someone is inside, I like to eavesdrop when a tourist approaches.
I told the girls about the free wifi available at The Bookstore (3399 Virginia Street) right down the block, but they wanted a place with a computer they could rent, so I sent them to the Oasis Cafe (2977 McFarlane Road), down the block in the other direction.
Rumor has it that Kent Security Guards are going to man the booths a few days a week now.

Love your graphic Tom!
Anybody know who we talk to in the city about improving the way they operate those booths?
Can't you use computers at the library?
Why would you send a tourist to use free computers at the library when Oasis and other places are starving for business?
I really would like to know what the whole point of these booths was to begin with? If its an info booth, it needs to be staffed with someone who knows what the hell they are talking about. Kent security guards are not providers of info about the Grove.
Grapevine, you do a lot to point out how useless these things are. Do you think you could possibly recommend anyone who is looking for employment and knows the Grove? Mabye the Grove Visitors Bureau could help? I just think that sometimes its easier to point out problems and inefficiencies than it is to help find a solution. These booths are clearly here to stay so efforts to make them useful would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Why doesn't the Chamber of Commerce do the job of informing tourists. They are perfectly located.
Close to the water and by public transportation.
The Glass House could have used the moneys for updating and staffing. Librarians in just about every city of the world are another resource for tourists.
To visit a library is an eye opener on the community one is visiting. Are they friendly. helpful, do they know our community and our famous authors. Impressive drawing Tom
Maybe blind mind could tell us where the Grove Visitors Bureau is located? Should be a snap for someone who "knows what the hell they are talking about".
I was just suggesting someone to help and Grapevine seems to know various groups in the Grove who probably know it pretty well. Maybe we dont have a Visitors Bureau so sub in the Chamber of Commerce instead, smartass.
The Gourmet Cookie Cafe on the corner of Douglas and Grand also have internet and computers for use.
Good thinking anonymous, send them through the "hood" to the Gourmet Cookie!
I'm sure that is exactly what the tourists are looking to do. Are you mad?
I gotta admit, it was a real chuckle getting blind mind riled up. Who knew a blowhard could be so thin-skinned?
Riled up? Thin skinned? Now that is funny!
