Pass the parking ticket, part 2
When I left an hour later, I did the same, I passed the ticket to a lady waiting for the same spot. The funny part is that the lady almost expected it, she didn't seem surprised at all when I handed her the ticket. Guess it's more common than I thought.
So this ticket was used by at least three people today that I know of. It reminded me a bit of the Pay It Forward thing with the coffee.

that's interesting - the limit is 3 hrs on the meter.....
I got there at about 2 pm and the ticket was good until about 4:50 pm. So it was for about 3 hours.
Many businesses in our Grove Village are suffering from not having enough customers.
We really should do a much better job of helping to promote our Grove Village as a friendly, convenient, entertaining and safe place to
visit, shop and dine.
Shopping in the Grove must be made into a much better experience if we wish to compete with the Gables and South Beach.
I vote that we should be willing to remove all the parking meters altogether.
We should be rewarding people that wish to visit our village and patronize our businesses.
We need not punish our guests with not enough parking, expensive parking meters, broken meters, parking tickets and the exorbitant cash
only fees that are required to retrieve your vehicle from the evil towing services.
The revenues lost from not having parking meters and parking tickets can be made up with the increased business and increased revenues generated by more sales and the more taxes collected.
Many quality communities around the country dispense with parking meters and tickets to help them promote a friendlier atmosphere and
thank customers for their business.
Coconut Grove should do the same.
The Parking Dept says if there were no meters, employees of the businesses would park there all day and there would still be no parking. We need to have residential stickers to keep people shopping and eating in the Grove. I liked the one hour free parking we had over the holidays when you put some money in the meter. Residents would know that but tourists would not.
I am a "drive by" shopper. When I want something, like a book, I want to park, run in and get it and get out. I am not the kind of shopper that likes to browse the bookstore, then go look at some clothes, and window shop and then get some lunch, and perhaps cap the day waiting in line for 45 minutes at the post office.
I can rarely find a parking space and the garages are both far away and expensive. The flat rates, especially, don't work for me.
But like Grapevine, I truly do love the Grove and would love to see its businesses do well. But I do think parking is a problem for us "drive bys".
