Mayfair Hotel and Spa
You enter through a large wooden door, which actually opens for you as you approach. And once you enter, you feel like you are in another world.
I love the courtyard which is the same as it's always been, lush, green and sort of exotic. It is a remainder of what the whole Mayfair Mall looked like years ago.
It's a nice place to feel as if you are in "old Florida", whatever that is. You just feel it. The Jurlique Spa is there and so is the Ginger Grove restaurant, which is offering a special menu for Miami Spice month. The hotel has some great summer rates for those who just want to get away for a few days and feel as if they are on vacation, without really leaving home.

I went to Ginger Grove a bunch of times when it opened and had some great meals there. The only thing that sucks about it is that there is never much of a crowd there at one time. Each time I went (I went about 4 times) there couldnt have been more than 2 other dining parties besides mine. At least when its dead you usually get great service because the waitstaff have nothing better to do haha. One time we did have a dickhead waiter though who didnt clear dishes and made a comment that was way out of line. He got put back in line though :) Anyhow, the food is good, especially the butterfish (Im assuming its still on the menu). I recommend giving it a try. Not too pricey either. A party of 2 can get a good meal and a few drinks and get out of there for $80, tip included.
Blind Mind, don't you ever have anything nice to say?
I love the tiles!!
Blind Mind,
When can we expect that parking map you promised? An actual contribution might offset the seemingly aimless gripes.
Ken Treister did a great job with the design of Mayfair... It is a Grove landmark!
Bah Humbug!
I much preferred when that property consisted of a Lady doctor's home with a wide expanse of green grass and rose bushes that could occasionally spare a flower for a small child to take home to mom.
THAT was "Old Florida".
The Mayfair Hotel is still a classy place! Very sub-tropical.
Moved to the grove three years ago and didn't realize there was a restaurant/spa at the mayfair hotel. Have walked by but never had a reason to enter. Will have to check it out... especially after the comment that it's usually not crowded. That sounds nice.
