The Dunkin' Donuts celebration continues

Dunkin' Donuts seems to be having a non-stop celebration of its renovated store in the Grove.

"The Dunkin’ Donuts of the future" as they are calling themselves in a recent press release at 2720 South Dixie Highway (SW 27 Avenue) will be celebrating its recent re-opening on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with a grand celebration, including an appearance and free autograph signing by Florida Marlins 2006 All-Star second baseman Dan Uggla and team mascot Billy The Marlin from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The celebration features an “Open House” style event where customers can come and view the renovated restaurant and sample the new products. Other grand opening celebration festivities include:

· 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. remote with WAMR 107.5 FM including prizes
· 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. appearance by Cuppy, the Mascot
· 11 a.m. ribbon cutting featuring Comm. Marc D. Sarnoff
· 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. appearance by Miami Heat Mascot Burnie

In addition, during the ribbon cutting, the restaurant’s franchisees will be presenting a donation to the Florida Marlins Community Foundation, a charity established in January 1999 whose purpose is to promote educational, athletic, health, social and community service programs with a particular focus on South Florida's youth. The donation includes $1.00 for every dozen donuts and pound of coffee sold and $2.50 for every Dunkin’ Donuts T-Shirt sold between July 1-21.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer so many fun things for our customers on July 21 and look forward to continuing to serve the busy people of Coconut Grove,” said Scott Ball, Dunkin’ Donuts franchise co-owner.

The Coconut Grove store is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I won't patronize that place. They're owned by The Carlyle Group.

Isn't that the one you have to walk in sideways because it's so small? In any event, I wish them well. Dunkin' Donuts is one of the great ideas of the last century. The guy who plans to boycott DD is probably one of those snobby, pretentious Starbucks followers who wouldn't know a good cup of coffee unless it comes wrapped up in hype and cost.
