Dear Grapevine,
Great Coconut Grove photos such as these are the first of two reasons why OldGrover regularly looks in on your blog.
The other is when you speak the magics words Winton or Diaz and the Comments section explodes.
Keep up the good work.

Fresh Market is delightful. Whole Foods is sensational and I'm looking forward to that. Lemons for a dollar? Goodness! They were cheaper in NYC

that was pre citrus-blight. you think their expensive here, in manhatten you can probably get a slice of pizza AND a hot dog for less then a lemon

Strongly disagree. In NYC you can buy smaller lemons in addition to the major expensive ones and they are much cheaper and quite good. In Fresh Markeat there is only one kind:-) Hey anonymous, I just moved here from there...that's why I'm amazed! By the way, I love all things lemon. Ahhhh...you reminded me of pizza and hot dogs...wonderful things of my past! Cheers!

Hi All:

We also like the freshmarket...but is it good urban planning to have prime coastal land occupied by a grocery store that has no windows? Seems like that store could have been put almost anywhere and the seaside be left for recreation, seaside dining, etc. all the uses that would benefit from "ocean views".

There goes Len again, channeling his inner hippie... Im surprised so many like the Fresh Market when their costs on many basic items are quite high. I also think FM is owned by the same company that owns Home Depot. Just look at the signage, its very similar in identity...

I don't like the fresh market because they don't sell any organic colas, just coca cola, and they don't have much of a selection for vegetarians or vegans.

The organic produce there is first rate, way superior to the offerings at Wild Oats much less Milams. I'm thankful. They are really no more expensive than other small grocers.

I work for THE FRESH MARKET and I can assure you that they are NOT owned by the same people who own Home Depot, they are in fact family owned. Thank you, that is all...

I would encourage you all to not shop at The Fresh Market. I worked at one in Raleigh NC and it was infested with rats. The management ignored sexual harassment allegations and very rarely promoted minorities. The company treats their employees very badly. The image of The Fresh Market as a company that provides their employees with a living wage is an illusion, as is the idea of fresh. Everything there comes out of a box, and nothing is baked on premises.
