Tower Power and Home Depot

A couple of other bloggers mentioned that we sound like a broken record by writing about the same things all the time, but these are important issues to the Grove. Even the Sun-Post is getting involved.

The Sun-Post has a couple of good stories in the current issue on the 300 Grove Bay project and the Home Depot. They don't save archives, so I posted them here and here, too.

Did you see the recent photo of Jorge Perez wearing a hard hat, Yellow Shirt and placing his hands in wet cement?

There he is leaving his mark for all eternity just like that of other debonair Latino stars such as Ricardo Montalban.

Do you happen to recall what he did to win this honor and award?

Was it for the dubious distinction of pouring the most cubic tons of cement, then the other nominees in that category?

I am sorry thst I was not in attendance at the recent Cement Laying Walk of Fame Ceremony.

But I am confident that in his thank you speech he must have given ample credit for his success to all those good folks in City and County Governments, lobbyists and attorneys that believed in him and his dream of achieving stardom.

No one likes a bitter looser and there is less sympathy for a bitter winner.

Did you happen to read that Jorge and his high priced lawyers are threatening community activists and their representatives with SLAPP suit (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) and John Doe class-action lawsuits for perceived lost revenues? Ref. Brittany Wallman titled Developer sues activists for fighting 42-story condo next to Stranahan House (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-chyde12may15,0,6544666.story).

Why does Jorge his Related Group and their muscle now wish to intimidate the public and encourage them to back away from future zoning and building fights?

Are they auditioning to be cast in the sequels to the Sopranos, Casino or Goodfellows films?
Why is Jorge so angry about community activist anyway?

Aren’t they only so much rabble being a nuisance and just slowing him down a bit?

Wouldn’t you think that Lucia at Greenburg Traurig Law Firm has helped Jorge win enough of their 80% or 90% of upzoning requests?

Do they really need to win 100% of the time?

Perhaps by their actions they should just declare to the people…

“Let Them Eat Cake” or “Let them Live In The Shadows of My Highrise.”
