Dog park in Merrie Christmas park?

Supposedly a dog park area was being considered for Merrie Christmas park on LeJeune Road. Most neighbors are against it, saying the park is a nice serene place now and dogs will only disrupt the area and bring people from outside the area. But according to Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, due to neighbors' complaints, the issue is off the table:

"Overwhelming voice has spoken against the dog park, and it is no longer under consideration or discussion. However improvements to the park should be listed so that we can use our quality of life dollars in the second trance to make these improvements over the late summer or early fall," said Sarnoff.

Now if the Mercy-Related thing could be settled so easily.

Yeah, to bad there weren't more loud voices in opposition to the Dog Park at Kennedy Park. The serenity and beauty there is forever ruined. Furthermore, now that it is considered a 'dog friendly' park, more and more people seem to feel comfortable leaving their dog off leash while outside the dog run.

The playground at Merrie Christmas is unusable 8 months out of the year because it is SCORCHING hot. I bike a couple miles out of the way to take my son to a playground that won't literally burn him to use.
We'd certainly love SHADE. If they don't bring shade, might as well give the fenced area over to the dogs.

I live right there. I am opposed to dogs running wild, for one, but also against a smelly fenced in area that will accumulate shit from dozens of dogs.

As everyone knows, people are suppose to pick up after their dogs. At Kennedy Park, when it gets dusty and the wind blows in from the bay, I can't help but think that particles of feces are blowing in the air, which is a problem if you are downwind of the dog area. I think that since so many dog owners don't even use the fenced area, why don't we take it down? Once I counted 11 dogs outside the fence and 0 in. It also seems odd that the children's area gets a view of the parking lot, while the dogs get a view of Biscayne Bay. I know that dog owners are taxpayers, but I don't think that dogs are our future voters and/or politicians.
Since the entire park is dog friendly, why is there still a fence?

Technically, no one is supposed to have a dog outside the fenced area in Kennedy Park without a leash. There are signs posted all over that say this. But many of the park's attendee's either don't read English or conveniently pretend not to.

The people near Merrie Christmas Park were smart to avoid the same mess we have at Kennedy.

The police occasionally patrol the park and give warnings, however I would like to see them write more tickets for violation of the leash law. I've lived across from the park for many years and it's always the same arrogant jerks who let their dogs run off leash outside the fenced area. They simply don't care about others in the park.

I do no use any dog park, however, my dog (and most of those I know) are better behaved than the children and "future leaders" I see at the park.

That's funnny. I can't beleive he's not going to fight for this dog park. Sarnoff fought all of his neighbors to get the dog park accross the street from his houses at Blanche Park and the one at Kennedy Park and now he dosn't even use them! He even had his next door neighbors investigated because of their opposition to the dog parks. Now he takes his dogs to shit at the toddler park at Blanche Park. I saw him there yesterday! Merrie Christmas park residents better watch out - I bet Sarnoff is having them secretly investigated. What a loser.

That's a good idea - taking down the fence at Kennedy since the park has always been dog friendy anyhow. At least it was before the fence went up! I think that the last person who suggested that had nasty things posted about them by Commissioner Sarnoff in a locked bulletin board in the dog park. You better remain anonymous - or he will go after you!

I think you mean psychopath. And yes I've heard about some of the
things he's done. It's a shame somebody like that got elected.
I thought Grovites were a little smarter than that.
