Keep Grand Avenue high rise free
The place sits empty and probably will for quite awhile, it really is an ugly building and is out of place for the area. It's a pleasure to see that the condo canyon plan went bust, for now anyway.
During the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, they emailed me and asked me to help promote an art event in the lobby. Of course this was not them being altruistic by helping starving artists, it was a shoddy self promotion idea, trying to capitalize on the art show crowds.
I felt bad for the poor artists who were in an empty building, trying to show their art far from the actual crowds but there was no way I was going to help promote that or any other project that was built out of pure greed and is bad for the area.
I didn't even know that was a condo, I thought it was an office building. It is ugly -- no ambiance. The car wash next door is more pleasing to the eye.

I totally agree. I drive by that building all the time w/ my partner, and we are always wondering who would want to live in that building. It is one of the ugliest new buildings in Miami. The balconies look so terribly tiny that you wonder why there even are balconies w/ those horrid sliding doors. I can't imagine a grand avenue full of buildings like that w/ a sprinkling of banks and cvs pharmacies. It actually is pretty nice on grand avenue right now. There are people always out and about enjoying the community and their neighbors.
I have experienced that building first hand and its a total ripoff. I remember when I was thinking about selling my current condo and moving into a new one that I looked at the specs of that place. "Wow", I thought. "Ocean views, but the price is a tad steep - $385-$450K for a 1BR loft." Then my old man was in town and, although the place wasnt built yet, we ventured around back to check out the "ocean view". Sure enough, there was an ocean view - once you looked past 3 blocks of ghetto...
I got to visit the place after it was built when I met a girl at a bar who had moved in early. The lofts are kinda small and the "ocean view" is even worse than I imagined. She was the only one in the building at the time and quite possibly could still be the only one there. At least there were no neighbors to complain about the noise though...
That is a really ugly ass building. The whole things looks cheap and under-built. The details look positively fourth class. At $150 they would be fairly priced; at $485 they are stupidly priced.
