Smoothie King is finally open
Looks like the Smoothie King (3034 Grand Ave.) has finally opened. Here are Mike and Raquel.
It's at the old Marble Slab ice cream place, across from Cocowalk at 3034 Grand Avenue.
When the place was empty, it was used on Halloween as a pizza and beer take-out. I got lots of beer there on Halloween night -- and some pizza. :)

Excellent! Smoothies.
Until around 1980, this was "The Tom Thumb". They served eggs for breakfast and burgers for lunch.
The atmosphere was quite similar to the Donut Gallery on Key Biscayne, which is a great institution.
Let's all support them. Give them your business.

I say... let them earn our business.
This place disgusts me. I can't wait till they go out of buisness who wants to pay 8 bucks for filterd ice.
They fire employees illegaly, they discriminate to the fullest.
I have told my friends not to go there after I found out what they did to my friend who worked there.
My friend was pregnant and they fired her dispite the Pregnancy Discrimination act of 1978.
She was fired because she was told she was a "liability" and diddn't fit in the work place (being pregnant)
"Prengnacy Discrimination Act of 1978. This act prohibits discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, or RELATED MEDICAL CONDITIONS. Under this law, emplyers must treat you as they would treat any employee with a medical disability.
Pregnancy and Maternity Leave
An employer may not single out pregnancy-related conditions for special procedures to determine an employee's ability to work. However, if an employer requires its employees to submit a doctor's statement concerning their inability to work before granting leave or paying sick benefits, the employer may require employees affected by pregnancy-related conditions to submit such statements.
If an employee is temporarily unable to perform her job due to pregnancy, the employer must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee. For example, if the employer allows temporarily disabled employees to modify tasks, perform alternative assignments or take disability leave or leave without pay, the employer also must allow an employee who is temporarily disabled due to pregnancy to do the same.
Pregnant employees must be permitted to work as long as they are able to perform their jobs. If an employee has been absent from work as a result of a pregnancy-related condition and recovers, her employer may not require her to remain on leave until the baby's birth. An employer also may not have a rule that prohibits an employee from returning to work for a predetermined length of time after childbirth." Taken from EEOC.gov.
Buisness is what-ever when it comes to me but I know as hell I won't support a woman working to save money for an unborn child knowing that all the money she is making is going towards a baby- that's disgusting and so is this situation!
Thankfully she has lots of friends to help- with family to get through this with obvious action being taken.
I am starting a boycott myspace for her and will post it asap.
* Won't support a buisness that fires a woman working for an unborn child. typo(same writer)
ya can't fire a pregnant woman and not expect to be on good karma.
