More on the Rua project

I had to laugh when I read this final sentence of a Herald article:

"Rua's project is one of several high-density developments in the works near Metrorail stops. County officials hope to increase mass transit ridership by creating jobs, housing and recreational facilities near stations." Total story here.

All the project is going to do is clog up traffic, use up local resources and ugly-up the area even more. People are not going to use Metrorail any more than they do now.

Bring back the Latin American restaurant. That was the perfect thing for that particular site.

The Latin American Restaurant was excellent and we defintely miss it.

We appreciate the Grapevine's view, but besides the traffic, I think that Rua's project won't be that bad.

That area around the Metrorail will probably improve as a result. Right now, it is a mish-mash of mostly unmaintained properties.

As an added benefit, the project itself and the new residents will infuse extra revenues to our favorite hardware store and breakfast spot, Shell Lumber and Coral Bagels (I think their profits will increase by 30%).

What's your solution CGG?

The solution is to stop changing variances, taking bribes and keeping the zoning the way it is. If a 40 story was not meant for the place, then move on and find the correct location for that.

Also, it would help to have Metrorail go to where people want to go.

A 40-story building in that spot is ridiculous.

And ugly.
