Uncovering the past

One interesting thing about all the construction around here - you never know what you're going to find.

At 3008 Grand Avenue, this is at the end of the Johnny Rockets building, they have uncovered the old Senior Frogs sign. When they put up a sign then, it lasted!
Many of you may remember Senior Frogs, which was originally at this location before it moved to 3480 Main Highway and then disappeared for good in 2009. The location became a Starbucks and then a bar called The Goose, among other things, but when people refer to it, they always call it the Senior Frogs spot.

This is an old picture of Oak Feed, Senior Frog's neighbor at one time.

Across the street at Mayfair, there are many remnants of the 1980s and '90s when Coconut Grove was a crazy place to be. You can see the old Burdines sign still on the building if you look close, and there is still an Ensign Bitters tiled logo sort of above The Spillover.

Cool! I didn't know Senor Frogs was originally there. When did they first open up in the Grove?

On the third floor of the Mayfair there's a Cafe Iguana mural. Or at least it was there back in 2015.

I had a dinner date with my old Grove boyfriend at Senor Frog’s after we hadn’t seen each other in 20 years in 1990. We were together from then on until he died this past January.

It opened in March 1983. My husband was one of the original 4 owners. I started in July 1984. We left in July 1991 to start our own restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area in 1992. Casa Tina Dunedin - ~ tina and Javier
