French Quarter takes over Florida Avenue

The Coconut Grove BID, has been throwing lots of block parties and they keep getting better and better. Saturday's party on Florida Avenue has been the best so far. I was mid-day from noon to 3 pm.  You may remember, they started on Fuller Street last June,  went back to Fuller, for another block party in September and then went to Main Highway  this past January, and now Florida Avenue. They tell me at the BID that another one is on the way at another location, to be announced! Prism Creative Group threw Saturday's excellent party for the BID.

It was called the French Quarter Block Party and the decorations, along with the beignets from Dasher & Crank with ice cream on top, jambalaya made by The Spillover,  and crawfish by Shore to Door Fish Market sure did add the effect.  And there was so much more food and drink from other vendors. Bad Apples Brass Band and Spam Allstars performed live under the big watermelon arch over the street.

Pearl Meyer and friends from the Blonde Tulip  had beautiful flowers for sale.
Commissioner Ken Russell, taking a picture of the crowd in front of Spam Allstars.

There was plenty of seating, there were liquor bars and lots of food.
Pizza right from the coal fire oven thanks to Harry's Pizzeria was very popular.
Jambalaya from The Spillover.
Lots of great New Oreans-style and other drinks.
The star of the show - boiled crawfish.
And my favorite, ice cream with beignets.
