CVS waiver denied at 27th Avenue and US1

This was the proposed size of the CVS at 27th and US1.

I am amazed that on Wednesday night, the Miami Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board did the right thing and stuck with the law! By a unanimous decision, the board voted down the expansion ideas that CVS Pharmacy had for their new Grove location. As you know, they are interested in taking over the Shell gas station space at 27th and US1.

There was an existing covenant on the property, agreed upon when the Shell station was first built 23 years ago. This stated that anything built on the property is restricted to 3500 square feet, the CVS is 13,000 square feet. Also, the covenant states that no drive-thru windows are permitted.

CVS, a giant among corporate giants asked for a waiver on size and drive-thru. Planning and Zoning denied them.

Many neighbors spoke against the project at Wednesday's meeting but really, all the board had to do was look at the covenant and agree to uphold the law.

Good. All these CVS and Walgreens stores popping up on every other corner are highly annoying. Hopefully they'll kill the project.

Good News!! Let's hope Ken Russell respects the decision and does not grant the waiver. He is taking money from real estate developers for his Congress Campaign ... Let's Keep Viligant!!
