While you guys were enjoying 4th of July in Coconut Grove, I was up north enjoying the 4th. I watched the fireworks over Manhattan and also watched the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest and while the Coconut Grove contest didn't have as many dogs eaten, it is a great community tradition. Ten was the winning quantity in the Grove, eaten in 10 minutes; and at Nathan's Joey Chestnut won again, his 10th year, eating 72 in 10 minutes! Here's a slideshow of that in the NY Daily News).
The Miami New Times was at the Grove event and they have some fantastic photos. You can see their slideshow of CocoWalk's Hot Dog Eating Contest here.
I heard that our fireworks in the Grove were really great this year too, thanks to Commissioner Ken Russell and those who donated to that.
