Telluride Mountainfilm, one of America’s longest-running documentary film festivals, will be returning to The Kampong in Coconut Grove on November 18 and November 19 as part of its world tour program. Mountainfilm is dedicated to educating, inspiring and motivating audiences about issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving, adventures worth pursuing and conversations worth sustaining. This year, two new feature films will be screened at the festival; Ryan Peterson’s The Super Salmon, and Shelley Schulze’s E.O. Wilson: Of Ants and Men, will have their South Florida premiere during the event. Friday’s screening of “E.O. Wilson: Of Ants and Men” will be followed by a panel discussion with documentary filmmaker Shelley Schulze.

A variety of other short and feature-length films have been selected for the Miami audience including; To Scale: The Solar System, Message In A Bottle, WASFIA, Mile 19, Throw, When We Were Knights, Heavens Eleven, Angel Annihilates Alaska, The Mysteries, The Accord, and One Of Those Days 3. The films offer a surprising blend of environmental, adrenaline, adventure and humorous themes. Spearheading the effort to bring Mountainfilm to Miami has been the architecture firm [STRANG], which operates design studios in Telluride, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. “The Kampong was selected as the film festival’s venue due to its cultural significance and shared educational mission", says Max Strang, “I can not think of a more perfect location to show these films.”

Mountainfilm on Tour in Miami is hosted by The Kampong partnering with Strang Architecture, National Tropical Botanical Garden, Bonwood Social Investments, HEDsouth, Brodson Construction, Riley Smith Group, Claudia Uribe, Stalk It, Federico & Adriana Sanchez and Sweetwater Brewing.
Tickets for Mountainfilm on Tour in Miami can be purchased online through mountainfilmmiami.org. The cost for each show is $25 for adults and $20 for students.
