Bacardi Sailing Week has begun

Charles Beek (captain) and his son Chas Beek (headsail trimmer) are in town this week for Bacardi Sailing Week.

This is Chas' first time in the event, his father's first time was 45 years ago, in 1971 right here in Coconut Grove.

They are part of the STAR race. According to the Bacardi roll they are competing under USA8420.

The Beeks are in the sailing village set up in Kennedy Park, you may have seen the tents from the road. It's an area for the sailors and their families to unwind between races, which start today, Monday March 7 and run through Thursday, March 10. More on Bacardi Sailing Week here.
