Police Junior Olympics held at Armbrister Park

Wednesday, the Miami Police Grove team hosted the Annual Police Junior Olympics at Armbrister Park. The event brought together 5th graders from Coconut Grove, Little Carver, and Tucker Elementary schools in friendly competition. Above, Grove Officer Matthew Vazquez, welcomes Thaddeus Scott, president of West Grove Crime Watch, who volunteered to help with the event.

The kids competed in several events to include 50m dash, football toss, and tug of war. The police department's aim is to teach youth the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and civic duty.

"All our participants are winners, but I ask you to join me in congratulating the athletes from Little Carver on their first place victory. We look forward to next  year's Olympics and a safe holiday season," said Commander Manuel Morales.
