Why has not one of the candidates for the District Two Commission seat spoken up publicly about FPL's Plan to build TWO New Nuclear Reactors at Turkey Point, and run the dangerous and obscene power lines along the length of US 1?
This gives me little faith that any one of these candidates has the where with all to stand up for this community.
If they will not speak up on an issue as important as this why should we even consider them for Public office?
Why are these candidates not rallying their supporters to this issue?
WHY should I give my vote to people who are afraid of speaking up about this issue..or any other major issue for that matter?
Are we simply looking at replacing one evil with another?
I challange this group of would be politicians to say what they believe!
Show me you deserve my vote. Show me you are a leader!

It's likely that no candidate is willing to say anything controversial.
ReplyDeleteTony, you are wrong again, FPL's plan clearly needs to be put to public vote.

Amazing!.. These people want our votes but won't stand up and tell us where they stand on an issue of great importance to this Community ,this City and to South Florida.
ReplyDeleteEven Regalado has come our forcefully against the proposed two new Nuclear Power Plants at Turkey Point.
It saddens me and angers me, to know that every one of these candidates, who assuredly read the Grapevine every day, cannot bring themselves to take a position and let the community know where they stand this issue.
This is a sad group of Candidates. This is a sad time for our City when candidates for public office hide from answering questions of great public importance.
I again ask ..this time directly - KEN, GRACE, JAVIER, SETH, LORRY, TERESA, ROSIE, WILLIAMS, MIKE... WHERE DO YOU STAND ON THE EXPANSION OF The NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS AT TURKEY POINT?
I vow today to make sure every voter I can reach remembers the candidates that refuse tell us where they stand on this issue.
If they don't believe we deserve to know their positions on important issues..they don't deserve our votes. but they do deserve our scorn.
There is a collective lack of political depth on the part of all these candidates. Most do not even dominate simple political issues and in the case of one (Ken) whom made a couple of inaccurate statements in the Grove Isle Forum; still no retraction, explanation, or correction on his part. This election is more of a contest to claim popularity points in their own personal realms and less on taking a position on issues or much less making pledges to the public. The management of pressing issues that the public wants answers on is elemental. The lack of courage or lack of urgency to take a position validates that none of you deserve to represent the very same folks that are demanding your confirmations. Confirmations that have nothing to do with whom is ahead in the sub-category of "Likes" on Facebook.
ReplyDeletePopulation worldwide, including S. FL., is increasing and we all need electricity, if not; no frig, no stove, no water, no supermarkets, no street lights, no gas pumps, no hi-fi music gigs, no TV, no nothingness! Jobie Steppe
ReplyDeleteCharles Corda should throw his hat in the race, Sarnoff shudders and shivers at the mention of his name. Jobie can run as a Sarnoff's second proxy just in case. Today on the radio I heard a sound bite from Florida State Legislator Jose Javier Gonzalez condemning the FPL planned expansion in Miami, so the chorus grows.
ReplyDeleteSorry not Jose Javier Gonzalez, he is Florida State Legislator Jose Javier Rodriguez.
ReplyDeleteSolar power creates lots more local jobs and is damn easier to clean up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anonymous. I have considered joining the fray. If in time it seems to me that we are facing a choice with these contenders that is no better than what we have now, I will throw my hat in the ring. I am sick and tired of the status quo. We need change.. we need honest open forthright elected representatives who will listen to their constituents and act in the interests of our community. I am watching this closely. I know If I enter this race I will throw it into turmoil..I just might do it ..Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteI urge everyone to oppose any candidate who allows themselves to be browbeaten into saying "Me Too" to a pathetic little clown like Charles Corda who is trying again to make himself relevant in local affairs. Stop it Charles. You just make people laugh.
ReplyDeleteCharles Corda deserves respect. He researches issues AND he speaks up.
