New pop-up galleries are planned for the Grove

Tony Kapel, artist coordinator and print manager at FrameWorks, tells me that he and his wife Maitejosune Urrechaga, who currated the recent "sideways EIGHT" show at FrameWorks, have plans to add a few pop up galleries around Coconut Grove.

Three are planned for right now, they may "pop up" in May or June in three separate locations. One will be a video project, according to Tony, this will feature seven artists from seven projectors set up around the gallery. Another one is a three person show with all different mediums (wall work, sculpture, installation work) and another is a one man performance art type thing in a large empty space - one man, one room, one light.

Another installment may include a fashion designer who will set up shop and also a record store which will feature seven to nine independent labels. A show will be involved here, too.

They also may have workshops including woodwork, pottery and puppet making.

Stay tuned!
