Killing late night liquor sales

Did you see this in the news - Miami Beach may ban late night alcohol sales, making last call at 2 am. That was the first step in killing the Grove years ago, and with Wynwood and Midtown fighting for the tourist money now, I think it's a bad move for Sobe to do this.

Story here in Miami New Times.

  1. It's only for outdoor venues. Chill out.

  2. Only for terraces and roof tops. Good idea. Long overdue.

  3. It's not for all late night alcohol sales, just the stuff on sidewalks and rooftops.

I really doubt that Sobe will decline in popularity because of a 2am ban on outdoor alcohol sales.

  4. Do people drink more and get more rowdy when they drink outdoors on a patio where they are visible to everyone including the police....as opposed to indoors at a darkened club where they are visible only to other drinkers?

  5. More evidence that the Grove was ahead of a trend that now has support even on South Beach. Good riddance to the 5AM last call.
