Students descend on Grove for music recitals

For the past two weekends, kids have been in the Grove performing for the Florida Federation of Music Clubs recitals that are being held at the Miami Conservatory of Music at the Mayfair Promenade.

Over 1,000 young musicians and their families converged on the Grove to preform and receive scoring from professional music judges. These scores are used for entry into regional and national music competitions.
All instruments, and even voice performances, are held. This is the third year the Conservatory has hosted the event. While not open to the general public (even parents are not allowed into the performance rooms), passersby are treated to a display of the children as they rehearse in the promenade plaza.

MCA Academy is hosting an open house this week. Parents are invited to visit the campus, see the classrooms, meet the teachers and the principal Ms. Acosta. The school is a private non-sectarion institution with children in grades 1-12 geared for students who have passions outside of school (sports, acting, and other creative endeavors). The group tours are from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, private tours by appointment 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm (and other times... just ask). 305-442-283.

  1. Isn't this the same place that the drum circle was removed from?
